Pre-chorus

edit

I dislike people refering to pre-choruses as bridges, but I put a note in the article about it. They are a type of bridge, but not the bridge. --86.130.146.237 04:45, 19 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

any particular reason why it ends with BTO?Vegeta206 07:32, 22 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Taylor's program notes, written in collaboration with Gershwin in 1928, are printed in full without a copyright notice in the piano score I have. They are also frequently quoted in recording liner notes as well as in the Wikipedia article An American in Paris and are likely by now public domain. In any case I believe this would qualify for exemption as a "short excerpt in a review or article". D A Patriarche 22:47, 1 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Need for disambiguation

edit

Someone who is a good Wikipedia programmer might like to add a disambiguation for 'bridge', which refers to a large structure spanning a waterway or whatever, the musical meaning in this article, a part of various string instruments, and so on. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.72.92.159 (talk) 01:04, 17 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

It seems very doubtful that someone will type "Bridge (music)" into the search engine when they are looking for the thing that crosses water.Trout Ice Cream (talk) 03:09, 1 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Why often the "worst' part of a song?

edit

Say why the Bridge (music) is often the "worst" part of the song, and if it is possible to do away with it. Jidanni (talk) 19:08, 16 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Requested move: "Musical scale" → "Scale (music)"

edit

I have initiated a formal RM action to move Musical scale to Scale (music). Contributions and comments would be very welcome; decisions of this kind could affect the choice of title for many music theory articles.

Bridge, bridge passage, transition, retransition, transitional episode

edit

While reading various Wikipedia articles and some of the books that touch on the subject, I got a bit confused about terminology and now I hope that someone with relevant knowledge could provide clarity and sources so we can improve the relevant articles.

For example:

  • Is there a difference between bridge and bridge passage?
  • Do bridge and transition have the same meaning?
  • Is bridge (passage) a kind of transition or vice versa?
  • Does bridge (passage) mean different things in different contexts (e.g. classical vs popular music)?
  • Should it be bridge-passage or bridge passage?
  • Should transition be merged into bridge?
  • Should retransition and transitional episode have articles? LazyStarryNights (talk) 23:09, 3 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

I look like Kiss but without the makeup, and that's a good line to take me to the bridge. Robbie Williams, Strong. Is this worth adding anywhere?92.19.135.156 (talk) 23:53, 6 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Reference in "Nanny's Song"

edit

The term "bridge" is mentioned in dialog of “Nanny’s Song” by Susan Cowsill. At the end of the song one of the artists says “Sorry about the bridge”, and Susan responds in a British access, “That’s quite alright, I like spontaneity”. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dnevil (talkcontribs) 21:06, 14 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
