Soul Kitchen edit

I could swear I heard Bow Wow Wow cover the Doors "Soul Kitchen" once. Can someone confirm this and place it within the song listing? Thanks. -SF

World Music edit

Over the years I've realized that (at least some) BWW tunes are lifted from popular world music; I've never been able to find a list of the progenitors. I'll start it, maybe someone knows much more:

  • See Jungle - A miriam Makeba song, heard it on Afropop 20 years ago, don't know name
  • I'll sacrifice you - A Kaetano Veloso (sp)song, forgotten name.
  • Of course, I Want Candy is a cover

Any more info would be a tasty treat to this page on a tasty band. -BO

In about 1987, I was sitting in my kitchen, listening to the radio, when a recording came on of an acapella men's chorus, singing some African song. At first, I thought nothing of it, but then I realized that the melody matched BowWowWow's See Jungle, and the words, although not English, bore a remarkable similarity to that same song. But I'd missed the information on who, what, etc. Ever since, I've wondered about that song. Then, while looking up BowWowWow, just for fun, I saw BO's mention of Miriam Makeba. A search turned up mention of

  • Mahotella Queens - Umculo Kawupheli, from 1974.

It's a perfect match, right down to the guitar intro in the version that I found on youtube. -rpking —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rpking (talkcontribs) 22:04, 14 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

I addition to Mclaren/Bow Wow Wow 'borrowing' the Mahotella Queens "Umcolo Kawupheli" for "Jungle Boy", apparently Mclaren used other tracks of theirs for his album Duck Rock ("Isisu Somhambi" equals "Punk it Up"). I am looking for reliable references for this. Certainly Mclaren had to settle legal action from Gallo Music for his use of a Boyoyo Boys hit "Puleng" for "Double Dutch (song)"--Design (talk) 04:43, 26 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Discog edit edit

Just a small edit to the albums, Last of the Mohicans was an EP in 1982.

This is correct as far as official albums go. There are quite a few compilations for Bow Wow Wow but these were the actual releases that came out at the time.

As a side note, The ones to get if you're a fan and can't get the proper albums are Girl Bites Dog (Cassette Pet tracks plus first single c30 and a couple of rare tracks), Anthology (A best of with the singles and some live tracks), and the Wild in the USA cd for the remixes and more live tracks.

Dave Barbe edit

Another small edit, Dave played with Adam Ant live in 1995, not for an Adam and the Ants re-union tour.

Odd graf under Controversy edit

The graf beginning "Lwin's mother.." reads sort of incomplete, like it needs to be qualified with a year or some context. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.127.59.90 (talk) 01:57, 23 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Dave Calhoun edit

Can anybody confirm whether the member of this group really is the same Dave Calhoun who is CEO of Neilsen?

If he is, the fact ought to be mentioned on that page. If not, the link needs to be either removed or changed to a suitable disambiguated title. — Smjg (talk) 16:26, 22 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Controversial album cover edit

"(The photo was originally to be used for 1981's See Jungle! See Jungle! Go Join Your Gang, Yeah. City All Over! Go Ape Crazy, and the cover was used as planned in some European countries – such as the Netherlands – though not in the UK or the US versions of the album.)"

I bought the album in the UK around the time it was released and it has the "controversial" cover. Yaguchi (talk) 04:01, 26 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

The name edit

What is the meaning of the name? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A01:E35:8A8D:FE80:45F4:F876:17BF:D701 (talk) 18:03, 8 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Disruptive unexplained edits edit

User Victorraindrop insists on making unexplained edits that contradict the sources as well as the band's official Facebook page. I would ask that they please desist; this isn't the place for personal petty debates. if you do not like what Gorman has done with the band's lineup, write an essay somewhere, but stop changing the facts here to suit your preferences. We go by facts, and the facts are what is in the sources and on official pages. Greg Fasolino (talk) 14:26, 6 November 2015 (UTC)Greg Fasolino (talk) 14:26, 6 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

OK, Victorraindrop made two statements: "check your facts. Annabella never left the band. Gorman was not an ant-contact Adam and Annabella for fact check.)"

1. The article did NOT state that she left the band. The article, before disruption, stated that Gorman formed a new lineup with a different singer. This new singer, not Lwin, is the one singing on their 2015 tour and is the one listed on their official Facebook page. Those are facts. They are referenced. You need to learn how to use Wikipedia as this is how it operates: We go by official sources, and we back up changes with references, not personal opinions.
2. Gorman did indeed join the Ants in Nov. 1979, several months before Bow Wow Wow. Google this, you can find it easily enough. Here you go: http://www.rockerzine.com/index.php/2014/03/the-battle-for-bow-wow-wow-an-interview-with-leigh-gorman/
Again, facts need to be referenced.Greg Fasolino (talk) 22:30, 9 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Conflict of Interest edit

Annabellalwin, who may be the former singer of band or her representative, appears to be making disruptive edits that are clearly in conflict of interest, including what appear to be deliberate changes of former members' surnames for no apparent reason. Wikipedia must not take sides in what seems to be a bitter band dispute and must just state the facts as shown in sources. Just noting this in case these disruptive edits continue.Greg Fasolino (talk) 18:43, 29 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

This pattern of unproductive and possibly unpermitted edits have continued. Hopefully someone will step in.Greg Fasolino (talk) 15:54, 9 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Duplicate info edit

There's a lot of information duplicated between this article and the article for Annabella Lwin
