Cleanup edit

This article could probably use some work - I fixed some poor grammar in the last paragraph before the discography, but the content (especially of that paragraph) does not seem appropriate. I know, Be Bold, but I'm not sure what to replace it with. 5dots 15:58, 10 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

I agree, he is also under the section 'Other notable individuals banned or refused entry' on the page 'List of individuals banned from entering the United Kingdom'. This should be put in somewhere? --Scythre (talk) 12:09, 12 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Stop Murder Music edit

Bounty Killer is one of ten artistes worldwide who are protested for lyrics urging the murder and torture of people. This is the single most relevant fact for any encyclopedia entry, whether you agree with the protesters or not. There are very few public performers who actively call for anyone's murder -- that is what makes these ten stand out. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.111.63.127 (talk) 22:46, 5 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

You have been edit-warring to advertise this current campaign extensively on top of several biographies of living people (and are currently blocked for that reason). Please be aware that Wikipedia is not a forum for campaigns against certain people (however objectionable their actions might be), see also WP:NOTSCANDAL.
"This is the single most relevant fact for any encyclopedia entry" - the fact British activist Peter Tatchell has criticized these musicians does merit mention in the article, but Tatchell's "Stop Murder Music" campaign is not what made them noteworthy for Wikipedia in the first place. They are included here because of their status in a certain musical genre, not because of this criticism (see also WP:BLP1E). If Bounty Killer wasn't known for his musical achievements, Tatchell's criticism of him probably wouldn't merit mention on Wikipedia at all.

Move discussion edit

Hello! :)

In answer, I moved the page because American bounty hunters were in the past sometimes called bounty killers (see http://scholar.google.co.uk/scholar?hl=en&q=%22bounty+killer%22&btnG=Search&as_sdt=2000&as_ylo=&as_vis=0).

In general article titles follow the original meaning of a name, word or phrase, not people or things it has subsequently been applied to. For example, the article House is about houses, not Dr House. Even though the former article has about 4 million hits, and the latter one 18 million. BillMasen (talk) 17:54, 16 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

I dont care what you find on Google Scholar. Try Google News. We will get an equally weighted result set and equally NOTABLE for the musician. Following the "original meaning" of the name is absolutely a ridiculous thought. People come to Wikipedia for insight on the musician - no one refers to Bounty Hunters as a bounty killer in today's society (assuming that at one point that was even the case). smooth0707 (talk) 01:52, 17 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

I do not think your tone is warranted. Had you been polite, I would not have bothered to contest this.

Since I am, let me point out that people do, in fact, come to WP for reasons other than finding out about your favourite musician.

As for calling them bounty killers, in addition to google scholar, I draw your attention to films named bounty killer [1] Ever seen For a Few Dollars More? Eastwood and Van Cleef are both bounty killers, and called that. BillMasen (talk) 02:04, 17 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

My tone is quite appropriate given the nature of your edits. I have been watching and working on this page for quite some time - and by no means do I appreciate you moving a page when none of the critiea is met: 1. PREVIOUS NAME IS INACCURATE? NO 2. INCOMPLETE? NO 3. MISLEADING? NO 4. HOUSEHOLD NAME? Well, since you seem to think that movies made in the 60s are still commonplace today (rather than musician CONSTANTLY in the news for both good and bad reasons), then this seems to be your point.

Before you start moving articles you arent familiar with and havent worked on, I strongly urge you to discuss on the talk page first, take up with the editors of the page, or use the {{subst:about}} template. CFD as stands. smooth0707 (talk) 02:55, 17 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

I am saying that bounty hunters are more notable than a musician called bounty killer. Notable does not mean famous (although most people know what a bounty hunter is).

Removing the hang on notice was not cool. At all. BillMasen (talk) 13:51, 17 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

To the admins: the other user has listed this as a redirect created by a typo. It was not a typo, nor is "bounty killer" a misnomer for a bounty hunter. Presumably it should have gone to Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion. BillMasen (talk) 13:55, 17 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

It's a bit unnecessary having Bounty Killer redirecting to Bounty Killer (musician) - any objection to moving it back to Bounty Killer, with a hatnote linking to Bounty hunter here (which would probably have been the best course of action all along given this article's title capitalization)?--Michig (talk) 17:02, 17 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

I'll go along with that. BillMasen (talk) 17:05, 17 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Sounds fine to me. Guettarda (talk) 17:23, 17 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
Can an admin (Michig or someone else) then delete this page/talk page and move the Bounter Killer (musician) page back to here? Per my comment above, I have no issue with a hatnote or the about template, but the musician tag on the proper article name is ridiculous. smooth0707 (talk) 19:27, 17 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
I've moved it back.--Michig (talk) 20:53, 17 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
Thank you. smooth0707 (talk) 14:38, 18 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
