Entries be included in the DAB?

edit

I've opened this section to come to a consensus on whether "Black art" is a reasonably likely topic name for African art and African-American art and therefore valid entries per WP:Disambiguation. As the proposer, I think they do, and reliable sources back me up [1], [2], [3], and I disagree with Mitchumch that there was consensus to remove these entries at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Black art or that their removal is justified by by DAB guidelines. The inclusion of a link to Espionage ([4]) seems justified as well, and would be better than the long list that used to clutter this DAB page.---- Patar knight - chat/contributions 03:09, 7 June 2017 (UTC)(editted 03:13, 7 June 2017 (UTC))Reply

  • Agree with proposal. Where sources confirm that Black Art is a term used synonymously with the article titles for these subjects, they should be included in the dab page. --Michig (talk) 06:11, 7 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • Agreee, obviously. The only reason against that I recall seeing is that the phrase "black art" wasn't in the titles of the articles, but that's simply not seeing the forest for the trees. If an ambiguous term can refer to the topic of an article, this article will get listed regardless of whether the particular term happens to be present in the title of the article or not. See MOS:DABSYN for an example. – Uanfala 10:01, 7 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • Disambiguation pages should not presume the existence of information that is not present in the linked articles. As such I oppose including these entries in the main listing. There may be justification for including them as near synonyms under a "See also" section. olderwiser 11:27, 7 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • I think Bkonrad is wise here. I think it is likely reliable sources can be found (may have been already - I have not yet explored Patar knight's links) to support that "Black art" is a reasonable search term for each of those topics. Assuming that to be the case, that information should be added to the relevant articles and the links created. Redirects should also be considered (e.g. Black art (spying) for espionage). The point of a disambiguation page should be to point people towards information they are trying to find; it should do exactly that. LadyofShalott 22:35, 7 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
    • Per LadyofShalott, use Wikipedia:DABREDIR which states, "Linking to a redirect can also be helpful when both the redirect target article contains the disambiguated term; and the redirect could serve as an alternative name for the target article, meaning an alternative term that is already in the article's lead section."
