"policy then of the Jesuit missions" edit

See the article on Bible translations into Japanese. It is noted there that a Jesuit translation of the New Testament into Japanese was produced in 1613. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.179.38.222 (talk) 10:51, 4 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

The delete of above User was "leading to the first printing of Catholic texts in Vietnamese by the Jesuits in 1651, but not the Bible, as per the policy then of the Jesuit missions" which seems a reasonable delete. Though it is something where a bit of historical/regional inconsistency is visible and WP:RS might help explain. In ictu oculi (talk) 11:40, 4 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
Actually on inspection of the Japanese article it turns out the source was faulty and only Gospel readings for Sunday were produced in Japan in 1613, but all the same that line "as per the policy" can stay deleted. In ictu oculi (talk) 11:52, 4 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
