USA edit

Beyond Tomorrow was also the name of the US-made show that was created by the then-new Fox Network as one of it's debut shows. It used the same format as Beyond 2000. (as well as it's research team, IIRC) It only lasted two seasons, but it preped me for seeing 2000 when it started appearing on US cable a couple years later. --12.107.104.2 15:22, 28 July 2005 (UTC)Reply

Dates? edit

The introduction says that the show was called "Towards 2000" and then "Beyond 2000" after the year 2000, but the sequent paragraph says the last series of Towards/Beyond 2000 was produced in 1999. I'm pretty sure I remember watching Beyond 2000 on TV in the 1990s. Anyone got a reference? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.163.44.154 (talk) 08:31, 23 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Huh? edit

"To audiences in the USA, most of whom are familiar with the original Mythbusters, this footage is superfluous." Is this supposed to be a dig at the aussies? Mythbusters was shown here on SBS and cable, and it's produced by Australians. --Sophistifunk 00:00, 12 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

That's one thing that pissed me off as an avid B2000 watcher who wanted BT to succeed. Even on Aussie TV at the time, it had the balls to call Mythbusters theirs )"Beyond Tomorrow's Mythbusters")when SBS was airing the newest shows (US originals, no edits) in the same WEEK! (All they altered was the narrator and trimmed it for time!) - Tallaussiebloke — Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.178.224.13 (talk) 14:04, 18 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

NTSC edit

It says Beyond 2000 was produced in 480i NTSC. Is this correct? Australia uses PAL... 203.132.67.84 10:46, 16 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Discovery Channel/Science Channel edit

In case anyone cares, I've added it to Category:Science Channel shows to reflect its current availability in the US, even though Beyond 2000 was previously on Discovery Channel. Wl219 01:59, 16 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Broken link to IMDb edit

The link to IMDb in the lower section of the box is broken. --Amit 17:54, 18 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Missing version? edit

Am I the only person who remembers the Beyond 2000 version hosted by actor David Birney? Around 1987, it was carried on the statewide PBS network in Georgia. Neither IMDB nor Wikipedia mention it but it IS listed on Birney's own website under "Film and Television roles."

Birney introduced segments much like the later Tannenbaum version. The Birney version was most notable for using an all-white set while Birney wore an all-white suit. It seemed like they were trying to convey a sort of futuristic look.

I believe Discovery US may have run some of these episodes as well before they switched to the Tannenbaum version.

While on the subject, anyone know where to get the record of the 80's version of the theme song? I once read in Variety magazine that the theme song was a top selling hit record in Australia. Patrick AWA 13:23, 14 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

One section? edit

The three shows may have been related, but they all deserve their own sections to expand in.

Would you lump all five Star Trek shows and all eleven movies in one spot? (Yes, 11. New movie out soon.)

It's doubtful we'd do that to those shows, so why do the same to the Beyond spinoffs?

It seems fair enough that we leave a vote up for a while to branch out the three shows, or leave them all lumped in a giant chunk.

Tallaussiebloke 20:42, 02 October 2007

Are you seriously comparing the Beyond shows to Star Trek? Anyway, unless the article becomes long an unmanagable, there is no good reason to split Towards 2000, Beyond 2000 & Beyond Tomorrow into separate articles. It is essentially the continuation of the same show, with different names.
Incidentally I removed your 'Criticism' section as it was fairly obviously entirely your POV and unsupported by any references. --ozzmosis 14:34, 2 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

You mistake my words. What I'm meaning is while the shows (Towards/Beyond/Tomorrow) are from the same people (Beyond Productions), each one is its own unique show, with different names, hosts and eras.

And the criticism is not my own, it is just hard to find excerpts to link here.

Deleting my words entirely is pretty much enforcing your own opinion, because I see no-one else talking about this section BEFORE you removed it, which is at least slightly hypocritical.

I would like to add Towards 2000 and Beyond 2000 to Category:Australian_Broadcasting_Corporation_shows. How do I do this if they are lumped under the heading of Beyond Tomorrow? -- User:DanFlett:DanFlett 20:37, 31 May 2008 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.161.120.177 (talk)

You can't, because despite ABC origin, it sold to 7 and then Ten. - TallAussieBloke — Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.178.224.13 (talk) 14:06, 18 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Notability Tag edit

I have removed the notability tag as I see it being irrelevant to this article. The Beyond series is a long lived series that has been shown internationally and conceivably watched by millions. I fail to see how it is not notable as even less popular shows and media have been documented by Wikipedia. Furthermore, Beyond Tomorrow is a documentary and not a work of fiction. If you wish the article to be improved (as I agree that it should), a more prudent thing to do would be to add some kind of "please improve" tag along with a list of areas which need improvement. --Stux (talk) 22:58, 4 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Any chances we'll ever see Beyond 2000 eps. released on DVD? edit

I used to watch those after school back when they came on Discovery Channel... oh so many years ago.

I know i would, as i'm sure others would too, like to see these classics (Beyond 2000) brought back to at least be purchasable as seasons on DVD's. Xeroz (talk) 17:55, 27 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
