Talk:Beau Rivage (Mississippi)

Opening comment edit

Beau Rivage is a famous Grand Hotel in Lausanne, Switzerland (also in Geneva). The Casino is named after it.

Specific needs? edit

I'm somewhat familiar with the Beau Rivage, and I could probably help with this article if I knew what specifically is wrong with it. It's a bit sparse, I'll admit, but in the aftermath of Huricane Katrina, the resort itself is a bit sparse, too.

I think more needs to be written about it separate from Katrina. I remember when it first opened, it was a rather big deal. Mike H (Talking is hot) 17:59, 1 October 2005 (UTC)Reply
It would be nice to have external links confirming efforts to reopen the facility, too. Anything available via The Sun-Herald in Biloxi, perhaps? — ArkansasTraveler 20:39, 14 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

It's not a riverboat. edit

"The Beau Rivage is a riverboat casino"

It's not a riverboat. It isn't even in a river. The Beau Rivage is/was a massive hotel with a barge casino (pre Katrina mississippi law) in the Gulf of Mexico. I was on highway 90 about a week ago and it is still a mess. The only structures I saw left on hwy 90 were Beau Rivage, Casino Magic, Hard Rock, Grand Casino and very few houses near the beach. -Coked, 08:30, 18 April 2006

Positive Balance edit

I agree that the article was too heavy on Hurricane Katrina, so I emphasized "rebuilt/re-opened" in several places. I also added the names of the Beau Rivage restaurants. Wikipedia is intended to be neutral, and to not emphasize bad news over long-term facts.

Tallest building in Mississippi? edit

That can't be true. There are high rises in Jackson far taller.

Also, the Imperial Palace Casino hotel on back bay Biloxi supposedly added two additional floors during construction, in violation of their building permit, for the express purpose of being taller than Steve Wynn's Beau Rivage. Keesler Airforce Base was not too pleased about that one as their flight path is close to that area. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.32.220.11 (talk) 22:00, 25 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

You are correct in that the Beau Rivage is not the tallest building in Mississippi. It is the second as the Imperial Palce is taller by I believe two floors. However there are no high rises in Jackson that are taller than either the Beau or the IP. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.19.12.255 (talk) 12:09, 2 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
