Consequences...
editPersonally I think the wording might be a bit misleading. Prins Christian Frederik was not the last Danish ship of the line, only the last in the (although very decisive for the future of the navy) Gunboat War.

Peninsula or Tongue of Land
editJohansen.fred has just changed the description of Sjællands Odde. He is correct that Sjællands Odde is a peninsula, but I maintain it is better described as a tongue of land (which is good English). Nobody on Wikipedia has called it a spit, as far as I know. The problem is possibly linguistic, but the Danish word Odde does translate as "point, headland, tongue of land" - Ref: Høst & Søn Lommeordbog (Dictionary) - Engelsk Dansk - and my personal experience of the area does emphasise that "long tongue of land" is the better description.
Before reverting Johansen.fred's edit, are there any comments from him or others? Viking1808 (talk) 23:08, 14 November 2016 (UTC)
- I can't remember having heard this expression in English, although as a non-English speaker I wouldn't presume to know for sure. In any case, it might be prudent to use the same term that's used in the page of Sjællands Odde itself. Fred Johansen (talk) 15:58, 15 November 2016 (UTC)
- I have the same problem whenever I try to write in Danish, so my two contributions to Danish Wikipedia were translated by a true Dane, Necessary Evil, who also works on the English Wikipedia. See da:HMS Falcon (1802) and da:Gunboat Grinder. I will revert your edit here but leave the Sjællands Odde alone.
- Articles impinging on (say) Denmark/Norway and Britain often do need the two sides of the argument to avoid bias.
