Not sure why there's a claim this battle might be commemorated in the Gododdin. Catterick makes much more sense historically and philologically, and Aedan mac Gabrain wasn't even Brythonic. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.180.60.120 (talk) 13:11, 10 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Not Al Haig

Is it known who the Angle leader was? Since the alliance leader is named, it would be worth having. TREKphiler any time you're ready, Uhura 13:56, 12 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Who knows who he is. I have a picture of him. His weapon looks like a hammer. Here is the picture: Wild Hunt.Prophet of Hell (talk) 14:23, 13 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Rome versus Germany?!

edit

Rcent edits effectively categorising this as a battle between Rome and Germany are at best fanciful, if not downright daft. That other Britons further south had been romanised and that the Angles were germanic is very much not the same thing. Mutt Lunker (talk) 23:22, 13 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Sources?

edit

This article is currently poorly referenced, with two citations to an old (1924) book and one to some sort of school project. I've been trying to find more reliable sources, but so far I've been unable to find any mention of this "battle of Raith" in the books I have at hand, that is, Fraser's From Caledonia to Pictland and Koch's Celtic Culture: A Historical Encyclopedia. The ODNB entry on Aedán mac Gabrán says nothing about a defeat against the Angles in 596 either. – Swa cwæð Ælfgar (talk) 21:14, 23 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
