Date of birth
editI am aware that there is some difference of opinion regarding Barbara Spooner's date of birth; however, I have referred to the best sources (including the Oxford DNB), all of which say 1777 – and have corrected accordingly. Agendum (talk) 20:55, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
politician?
edit"This article about a British politician is a stub." However, the article says that she was a politician's spouse, not a politician herself. I'm confused.--69.234.227.201 (talk) 00:55, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
Possibly wrong portrait
editThe portrait shown may be Barbara Spooner Wilberforce's daughter-in-law, but it is not Barbara Spooner Wilberforce because at the time it was painted she would have been middle-aged, not a young woman with a baby.199.168.151.103 (talk) 03:51, 12 May 2015 (UTC)
- I agree with the last comment. I refer you to the website called "Wilberforce – Thoughts on the Clapham Sect, arising from Anne Stott's Book, Wilberforce: Family and Friends" at https://claphamsect.com/2013/04/11/william-wilberforce-junior/. Referring to the portrait of ‘Mrs Wilberforce junior’ the post on April 11, 2013 by Anne Stott states that "Unfortunately, it is wrongly described as being a portrait of Mary’s mother-in-law, Barbara Ann Wilberforce. The child is her son, William, born on 6 December 1821." Stott is the author of Wilberforce: Family and Friends.
- I propose to immediately delete the image in question from this article, as there is now no doubt that this image is of the wrong person.

- @Andrew Davidson: I have put in place a different portrait where, it seems, the sitter is not in doubt. Thincat (talk) 13:56, 22 April 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks. I saw the portrait loaded by Thincat on the cover of Wilberforce: Family and Friends and had started the process of uploading it myself but then found the other portrait was already in Commons and so started with that. The Wilberforce/Spooner family was quite extended and I agree that there was more than one Barbara. Andrew D. (talk) 14:16, 22 April 2019 (UTC)
