Violent immigrant-heavy

edit

This edit by an IP user removed the word "violent" from "the immigrant-heavy Five Points neighborhood", calling it borderline racist. I see the point, but "violent", or "gang-ridden", is more relevant in the context than "immigrant-heavy".-- (talk) 00:28, 10 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

The removal was incorrect, and I have reverted it. "Violent" refers to the neighborhood, and that is an historical fact. It is not a description of "immigrants", per se. Beyond My Ken (talk) 02:59, 10 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
I did the edit already, but after the fact checked the talk page and noticed this heading. I added a comma between 'violent' and 'immigrant-heavy' to indicate that it was both separately as opposed to 'heavily filled with violent immigrants'. I also read it as arguably racist at first, but realized it could have two different meanings, so hopefully this clarifies it. Revert or discuss if that doesn't sound like a fine solution, I guess. 184.83.195.102 (talk) 20:23, 10 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

The sentence associated with the 8th citation is an opinion and judgmental.

edit

"It was ironic that both were famous as Shakespearean actors: in an America that had yet to establish its own theatrical traditions, the way to prove its cultural prowess was to do Shakespeare as well as the British, and even to claim that Shakespeare, had he been alive at the time, would have been, at heart at least, an American."

This sentence is obviously an opinion and does not belong in this article. 2601:2C0:8881:9360:90AC:F7A6:88A7:AC28 (talk) 09:12, 25 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

It's clearly phrased in a judgemental way, but at the same time mentions something that seems relevant an significant enough to warrant inclusion. So, a rephrase based on sources would be great! (talk) 14:52, 25 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
It's an opinion, but it comes from a reliable source. I'll add the source to the text. Beyond My Ken (talk) 18:30, 25 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
