Oscar India

I have seen the "Oscar India" specification referenced often in magazines and books dealing with Aston Martins, but have never seen an explanation for that odd title. Can someone explain, preferably within the article, what the title "Oscar India" refers to? Duncan1800 (talk) 01:55, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

Merger proposal

I belive that the Aston Martin V8 Vantage (1977) ought to be merged into this page as it is largely the same car - in the US market, they even shared engine specifications.  Mr.choppers | ✎  08:04, 30 July 2012 (UTC)

It had an engine in a higher state of tune, and some body modifications. A V8 Vantage is a boyhood dream of mine, but I nonetheless am compelled to admit that it is essentially just a GTi version of the V8. I disagree. Unlike say the DB4 and DB4 Vantage, the V8 and V8 Vantage were sold as different models by Aston rather than a different engine spec. The Aston Martin page also consider the DB7 Vantage and the DB7 Vantage Volante separate models, when the only difference is that one is a convertible. I don't know what you mean by "were sold as different models by Aston"? The only difference is some very light cosmetic alterations and sometimes a higher tuned engine.  Mr.choppers | ✎  00:46, 19 December 2014 (UTC)

In the same way that the DBS was sold as a different model from the DB9. Technically the DBS was a DB9 with slight body alterations, a more powerful engine and some other small changes. However it is still regarded as a distinct model from the DB9 as opposed to just a DB9-plus, like how the V8 Vantage isn't just a V8-plus. This website goes into a bit more detail.
