Non-notability

edit

Please, is this article notable in any way at all? I mean, I've never even heard of this Astaroth figure. Should this article be deleted or merged? Iotamikadoshi (talk) 23:39, 17 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Astaroth is quite notable. The Canaanite fertility goddess Asherah was mentioned in the Bible as Ashtoreth, which was transcribed as Astaroth in medieval texts, where she became known as a male demon. I can't recall any demonological text that does not mention Astaroth. He appears in Paradise Lost, even. While the page could be merged with the regular Astaroth article, most of the popular culture sections have been separated so that many of the less notable figures (say, Vapula) can be lumped together into large articles (Goetic demons in popular culture). Don't know if this should be added but "Astarotte" is also the first name of the main character "Astarotte Ygvar" of the Anime "Lotte no Omocha". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.207.84.183 (talk) 01:46, 20 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
