Assyrian Music → ? – I'm not entirely sure where this should end up, but the article is currently not compliant with WP:LOWERCASE. At present, the lowercase version of this title is a disambiguation page at Assyrian music. Suggestions are welcome. Izno (talk) 17:24, 6 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

  • Move to Assyrian folk music, Syriac folk music already redirects to this folk/pop article, but "Assyrian folk" is probably a better title for the modern Assyrian culture. In ictu oculi (talk) 17:51, 6 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • I changed the title to to "Assyrian Music" only because I thought "Assyrian folk music" was too specified and it seemed like an emphasis on the folk genre. The thing is, NOT ALL Assyrian music is folk. I would opt for "Assyrian pop music", because most of Assyrian folk is still pop in some way or form (a la, "folk pop"). I really do not recommend the the title to be "Assyrian folk". But I am open for other suggestions - Assyrian pop-folk? Assyrian pop/folk? Music of Assyrians? Meganesia (talk) 18:23, 7 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for the article @Meganesia:, your original title Assyrian pop music would also have been fine. But we can't just use "music" because the church music is probably better known. In ictu oculi (talk) 08:41, 7 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Which Songs edit

Does anyone know the name or links of the songs that are under the History tab? Shuraya (talk) 21:35, 5 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Current title edit

The article was renamed by Meganesia, a confirmed sockpuppet of WMF-banned user King king92 during the previous RM in 2016. I initially thought about renaming it back, but then I realized that Assyrian music is ambiguous and currently a dabpage. Formerly, it was an article years back, but it became a dabpage in 2009. I'm not confident about "folk/pop" as part of the title. Maybe "folk-pop"? Also, I don't know what the music is commonly known as. --George Ho (talk) 00:14, 4 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Assyrian folk/pop musicAssyrian folk-pop music – Slashes look ugly, hyphens are used by other Wikipedias. Possibly broadening the scope to Assyrian music would be helpful. I don't imagine it has many other genres other than folk and, apparently, pop music. Super Dromaeosaurus (talk) 20:54, 5 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Are there sources calling it so? I don't think it's folk-pop in any sense. The article rather describes "folk music" that is modern, and not contemporary folk either. Solidest (talk) 11:23, 6 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
  • Support inasmuch as the slash has got to go. "Folk-pop", "folk and pop", just "folk" or "pop" whatever the sources best describe. Primergrey (talk) 06:39, 9 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
