Merge books in series

edit

The first book's article, The Dragon's Tooth, has some meat to it, but the other three are just stubs. The logical thing would be to merge the individual books back to this page. Not content needs to be lost.

Something similar would be appropriate for the other series. They are very thinly sourced with excessive plots summaries and even character lists. Several of these articles have "notability" and other maintenance tags. Consolidating them would help address those issues. In those cases, some big chunks of unsourced content could be removed. @StAnselm: The two sources cited in this article, Burton and Larson, have a lot to say about the series. Not so much about the individual books, though. If we want to have a fully developed article on the series it makes more sense to treat the books as a whole, rather than repeating or omitting relevant material from each article. They're not standalone books. They have a continuing set of characters, theme, and style. Should we post merge templates for a broader discussion or is there consensus? Thanks for the ping. I haven't quite made up my mind, which means, I suppose, that I'm not prepared to argue against the merge. StAnselm (talk) 14:17, 23 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Looking around I see it's common to combine series into one article. Here's a long, thinly sourced one, The Spiderwick Chronicles. Here's a very short one, The Arcana Chronicles. See Category:American fantasy novel series for more examples. Of course, some are just overviews of separate book articles. Anyways, it's no rush. I've just figured out Twinkle so I can put Merge tags and perhaps the solution will become obvious. WestRiding24 (talk) 08:21, 24 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
