Resubmitting this request with different link in cite: Change Section 2.2 Venture capitalism and investment

Add company, "Neighborly" to list New copy should read: Beyond the entertainment world, Kutcher is also a venture capitalist. Kutcher has also successfully invested in several high technology startups.[28][29] Some of his investments include Neighborly[1], Skype, Foursquare, Airbnb, Path and LFBedard (talk) 20:42, 11 June 2017 (UTC)

  1. ^ Fortune. "This Startup Wants to Modernize Public Finance". Retrieved 11 June 2017.

I removed it. Even if the previous proposal hadn't been made, this new source is poor and it's not about Kutchner. --Ronz (talk) 14:45, 12 June 2017 (UTC)

Since when is Fortune magazine a poor source? In addition, we could just remove the cite altogether as the existing cite (Crunchbase) lists Neighborly alongside some of these other companies already in the article. Can we please change my edit back? Or if this is deemed promotional, let's remove all the companies listed. LFBedard (talk) 15:23, 12 June 2017 (UTC)

Both sources you've offered are promotional in nature for Neighborly, the Fortune source just a warmed-over press release. Secondly, the sources simply name-drop Kutchner's investment company. --Ronz (talk) 15:42, 12 June 2017 (UTC)

OK, then keep my edit, remove my cite and we just use the existing one from Crunchbase, which also backs up my edit. If you have a problem with Crunchbase, then I suggest you remove the whole sentence/list of companies to be fair. LFBedard (talk) 16:51, 12 June 2017 (UTC)

I think removing the sentence might be the best solution if no independent source is offered. The Crunchbase ref provides a listing of investments. Choosing specific ones from the list for emphasis without additional sources is problematic in terms of both WP:OR and WP:NPOV. If we don't have a source that demonstrates why it's important to mention in a biography on Kutcher, then it probably doesn't belong regardless. --Ronz (talk) 23:32, 12 June 2017 (UTC)

it says his father is of czech decent. hard to believe with a german name such as Kutcher. couldn't be more german if he tried. No 100% ethnic czech has a name like that and those czechs who have, if there are any, must have some ethnic german in them. on his mothers side german is mentioned. so it should also be mentioned on his fathers side. otherwise it sounds like a joke. 'a german mother named finnegan and a czech father named kutcher walk into a bar...' — Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 09:57, 5 May 2018 (UTC)

I haven't had the chance to examine it very closely, but keep in mind that 1) people can change their identities to something completely different from their heritage, 2) there is the idea that this refers to partial ancestry rather than full ancestry for parents. You therefore cannot make definitive conclusions about ethnicity solely based on last names. That would be too presumptuous. Snuggums (talk / edits) 13:13, 5 May 2018 (UTC)
UPDATE: Since I couldn't find any good links going into specific details, this has just been shortened to say "He has Czech, German, and Irish ancestry". Snuggums (talk / edits) 19:47, 5 May 2018 (UTC)

Minor syntax correction - submitted 30 October, 2018Edit

Syntax correction: In the Early Life section, the text "motivated to" should be changed to "motivated by."
