Please don't copy and paste text from the school website. At Wikipedia, we value original contributions. -Will Beback 07:39, 6 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I am a student and I was commissioned to write the info for the school website and in turn made a wiki article with said information as well as added information exclusively for wikipedia. Thusly, this is one of your "valued" original contributions. I hope fellow students and alumnus will soon make other contributions. So, in the mean time, just let the child grow.

I'll take your word for it, thanks. However we do require that material be verifiable. Please make sure that you note your sources for the material, and please do not engage in original research. Cheers, -Will Beback 16:20, 6 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Note that I am not the original author. This page is in serious need of some sources. I've added in links to the awards sites at NSPA and CSPA, as well as the President's collection at Walsworth. This should give some credibility to the listing of awards. I'm not as familiar with the other organizations listed.

Also, I suspect that "Ellen Berry" is mispelled. Perhaps the original author could check on this? I couldn't think of a good way to verify her last name, but, having sung under her, I remember it to be something more like "Beery" (but not that spelling... maybe Biere?). It is Ellen Beery, not Berry. Also, the following information is incorrect: "ACA's Honor Choir has, for the past six years, won the gold award at the invitational Heritage Festival at Disneyland in Anaheim, CA." I was in this choir from September 1999 to June 2002 (I graduated four years ago) and never in that time did we attend this festival, thus making winning an award impossible. Perhaps this award has been won for the past four years, but it is definitely not six. Edloop 02:15, 2 December 2006 (UTC)edloopReply

JesusACA edit

The page may need to be protected, as it has received constant vandalism from the user "JesusACA." —Preceding unsigned comment added by MPDartmouth14 (talkcontribs) 00:07, 2 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Agreed. "JesusACA" seems to vandalize the pages excessively. Whether he or she does this out of hate or insecurity, it does call attention for the need for this page to be more secure. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.100.27.126 (talk) 00:48, 7 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

I have reverted unsourced changes and POV edits from JesusACA. However, I have also removed some highly promotional material from this page as well. The is an encyclopedia article, not a promotional flier for the school. Information on Wikipedia must be sourced to reliable secondary sources, this entire article can't just be a rewrite of the promotional material from the school's website. I'm bringing this here rather than to the individual IP talk pages, because I'm not sure which IP is active in the editing of this article. This edit summary here [1] which states "Undid revision. The article titled "Redlands High School" has a comparable "promotional" tone. It was show bias if the comparison in that article is allowed, while the comparison in this article isn't" is completely unencyclopedic. Just because other articles exist doesn't mean this article has to turn into a promotional piece for this school. If you disagree with another article, feel free to work on that one. Because some other article is written with more reliable sources, or has more notability doesn't show bias. Dayewalker (talk) 01:02, 7 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
I would agree with most of what you say, except you must take into account that this is a small private school. There are a lot less sources that are even in existence than Redlands High School, which is government-funded. However, I can verify that this information is in fact true. I would caution everyone to check information edited by JesusACA, as his edits are apparent vandalism. Also, the disputed information under the Academics section has been on the page for several months, and not once did I think it was promotional. It simply offers a truth. Also, "JesusACA" has slandered the school's article several times by stating that the school has had and will continue to have several legal problems. However, Arrowhead Christian Academy has never been in any violation for any legal codes in the municipality, the county, nor has the institution been subject to any lawsuits. How should we approach these attacks? MB AMG Designo (talk) 01:20, 7 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
To begin with, I would caution you against using the word "slander." Wikipedia has a pretty clear policy about legal threats. Can you show me a diff (a link showing his addition) that indicates slander? Him adding that funds raised from an event go to legal proceedings may be inaccurate (and I removed it as a clearly pov-pushing edit, but it doesn't seem like slander.
I appreciate you verifying what's in the article, but personal verification isn't sufficient. If the school is small and hasn't received coverage in reliable secondary sources, that's fine, the article can be smaller and only include the relevant encyclopedic materials. For example, there's no need to describe where the students can eat lunch, or other day-to-day operations of the school. The information on this page should be encyclopedic, not promotional. A sentence like "The goal is to create a Christ-centered environment where the faculty and staff are united in serving the Lord by supporting the triad of school, home and family in a safe, family atmosphere" belongs on the school's website, not in an encyclopedia article.
The information on SAT and ACT scores is sourced only to the school's own website, and is extremely promotional. If that were from a reliable secondary source, it might be notable, but it seems to be in the article only to glorify the school and disparage the neighboring schools. Even above in your comments on this page, you seem to be comparing this school to the others and demanding equal treatment, or else you see a "bias" in the article. There's no bias in reporting information from reliable secondary sources. If you feel the other article is also promotional, feel free to edit it in accordance with the general principles of Wikipedia.
You guys have done a nice job with this article so far, but the tone needs to be more encyclopedic and less promotional in nature. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them here and I'll do my best to answer. Good luck! Dayewalker (talk) 02:31, 7 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
