P. Martin Ltd / Parsons & Hart Ltd / Army & Navy Stores (Bromley) Ltd

I believe the information available online at House of Fraser Archive related to these businesses is either misleading or somewhat incorrect. Consequently the related reference link from this Article might be an unreliable source in this respect. I can find no other reference on the internet to the business 'P. Martin' either in Andover or in Bromley as ever existing. There is, however, a P Martin named as the Registrar at the time in the London Gazette on pages where changes to the business of Parsons & Hart in Andover are listed. Perhaps this is simply coincidence. Possibly. Parsons & Hart was clearly established at Waterloo House, High Street, Andover during the mid to late 19th century, becoming a landmark business in the town. There is no evidence of this business or a P. Martin as ever trading in Bromley. The Bromley stores of Harrison Gibson which were bought by Army & Navy (out of receivership, according to 'A Legend of Retailing - Turton / Moss') in 1968 were a branch store of the Harrison Gibson business in Ilford so could obviously not continue to trade as Harrison Gibson under Army & Navy. My theory is that Parsons & Hart of Andover was bought by Army & Navy in the early 1950s and closed in 1964 with the building being sold to Woolworths (possibly to help pay for Camberley or other expansion). Parsons & Hart may still have been an active subsidiary within A&N (though no longer trading) and the business in Bromley could have potentially been carried on under the directorship and liability of this business from the off with simply a change of name from Parsons & Hart Limited to Army & Navy Stores (Bromley) Limited. I have so far been unable to find any previous trading names for the Harrison Gibson business in Bromley. It is conceivable that the P. Martin name stems from here. Any thoughts? Army & Navy Winchester

I am trying to find information about the Army & Navy store in Winchester that came into the Army & Navy division of House of Fraser.
