Start of the liberation movement edit

This article erroneously claimes that the Armenian national liberation movement developed in de 1860's. These movements existed much earlier for example the times of Israel Ori and Davit Bek. Can someone maybe find a way to also include the earlier Armenian liberation movements in the article. Because 1 reason it's important to note that it didn't just start with the wave om nationalism of the time.

edit

Once again, as in Talk:Armenian_nationalism, a wikipedia entry full of dubious material, most of it obviousy derived from ultra-nationalist Turkish sources (easily observable in both the tone of the language and the faulty English), that has had no contributions to its talk page. I can assure you that Wikipedia sees far more Armenian ultra-nationalists than Turkish ones. dab (𒁳) 09:31, 2 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Address the facts, don't express your racial stereotyping, and cease making negative comments on the alleged ethnicity of editors. In my above comment I made no mention of the ethnicity of those who created the article. Meowy 20:04, 5 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Flagged for cleanup edit

  • I tried to clean this up myself, but I'm not knowledgeable on the topic, so in many instances I wasn't clear on what the article was meant to convey. I hope I haven't overstepped any boundaries with the flags. Kayobee 08:21, 31 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

What sources say about Armenian nationalist movement. edit

Meambokhe, repeatedly restoring content that you know other editors disagree with is a violation of WP:edit warring even if you don't breach 3RR. Before restoring content, please provide here reliable sources with quotes of the content supporting the theory that the Armenian national liberation movement consists of "military and ethnic cleansing campaigns". The sources you cited are:

  • Kaçaznuni, Ovanes. Taşnak Partisi'nin Yapacağı Bir Şey Yok. Kaynak Yayınları - Çukurova Ünviersitesi. pp. 32–33.
  • Henham, Ralph J. (December 31, 2013). "The criminal law of genocide: international, comparative and contextual aspects (2007)". Ashgate Publishing.

The first of these sources is not a reliable source, it is a memoir by Hovhannes Kajaznuni. The second one appears to be a chapter written from a WP:FRINGE perspective titled "Armenian genocide claims: a contextual version of the 1915 events, Sadi Cayci". Now it's certainly the truth that some Armenian nationalists did resort to ethnic cleansing after World War I, especially in Zangezur, but this article covers decades of history so putting it in the first sentence is WP:UNDUE and highly misleading. As you said that it's the memoir of first Armenian Prime Minister. So you basically say you don't see his memoir as reliable ? Read what you say again. Secondly Armenian liberation movement is Ottoman-Armenian conflict and as you accepted etnich cleansing happened by Armenian Fedai or other groups. And that was not only in Zangezur. There is no any theory in my source it's just saying the number of Muslim (Turks) citizen massacred in Ottoman-Armenian conflict. So stop talking about imaginary things. Who is talking about theories in here you basically delete sourced information just you don't like personally. Meambokhe (talk) 14:16, 4 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Lack of citations edit

I am not familiar with this subject (other than basic awareness that it's highly contentious), but have noticed a large number of paragraphs (and sections!) without any form of citation whatsoever; I've added {{cn}} tags to them. This isn't meant to cast aspersion on the claims being made (which, for all I know, are completely true), but they do need to be cited. jp×g 06:01, 12 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Armenian national liberation movementArmenian national movement – While there is a separate organization called Pan-Armenian National Movement, the lowercase form "Armenian national movement" was used predominantly prior to the creation of this organization, and is still the primary way of referring to this 19th/20th century movement, as you can see from the NGRAMS[1] or Google Scholar results.[2][3] In addition, it is less POV due to not assuming this movement generated "liberation".
