I have to say that there are some names that are not really Armenian in the list. Those names appear to be Georgian and it is my understanding that the ones should be removed. If you look closely, surnames after "Ayoliladze" are listed by alphabet. and those before it are not. You may check some of those articles for example Andronikashvili and Adamia and you'll understand that they are Georgian. I look forward to response

I agree that some of the surnames was not Armenian, and i have a question to the editors of this article, when someone wrote those surnames anybody askded him/her about references ? if not, then why ?--Balakhadze ^{ႫႨႼႤႰႠ} 22:36, 13 April 2013 (UTC)

It's great you are both taking the time to comment on the content in this article. Please keep in mind that two people agreeing together is not enough to just remove large chunks of content. It's advisable to get references to back up what you believe to be true (in relation to this article's content) and to wait for others who watchlist this article and have contributed to it previously to also contribute to the conversation. There is no harm in leaving the contested surnames in the article for now. I have just found a Wikipedia article that speaks well to patience in editing here: WP:NODEADLINE. One more thing: this article is part of WikiProject Armenia. How about going to that article's talk page and talk to the folks involved in that project? I don't understand why are you doing this?! I asked question but you don't answered it. Ok, perhaps you are proarmenian. If so then i will give you facts. Big and the stupidest mistakes in the article do not need conversations!

I think it's enough, I'll not continue writting facts, it's clear already that someone was just joking writting Georgian surnames in the article of armenian surnames.

Look at this there are surnames „Shamqorashvili / Basiani“ :D first of all they are two different surnames but frankly speaking they are not even surnames, they are names of battles in Georgia; look at this: Battle of Shamkor, Battle of Basian !!

Please do not edit war over this issue. I've given you steps you can take in order to get other opinions from other editors, have a discussion here, get references, and reach consensus. Your attitude (especially asking if I am "pro armenian") and actions are not proving conducive to an environment of working with others in a volunteer project. Bring proof of your claims (regarding non-Armenian names in the article), not just your own personal opinion. Further, because of the "you are pro armenian" comment, I now have to wonder if you are editing from a POV standpoint rather than being neutral. Your attitude is seriously not helping (perhaps it is a language barrier due to your lack of fluent English?) and you're trying to force your POV. The other thing that doesn't help is your "sources" are linked to Wikipedia and are in Russian: you can't use Wikipedia as a source and this is the English Wikipedia. See what I'm getting at? As discussed, one can't rely on Wikipedia itself. In that case, here is http://www.geogen.ge (Georgian Genealogy) - perhaps one of the most common sources. It's multilingual and it's an independent source listing common Georgian surnames and basically, all the known ones, including their origins. For example, Abasashvili (the surname given in the list) - produces the result „abasashvili – gori“. So what else do we need to remove all the surnames ending with 'iani' (not -ian, which is Armenian), -dze, -shvili and etc? --H.McC. (talk) 21:11, 14 April 2013 (UTC)

Names ending in "...yan" should stay as well. There's a problem with the website you provided, Henry: it's not in English. The article is about Armenian surnames, but this is still the English Wikipedia. Seems that sources need to be in English, yes? Winkelvi (talk) 01:54, 15 April 2013 (UTC)

Well there's a language switcher and http://www.geogen.ge/indexen.php - this is the english option. and if you go to menu and surnames and families, you can see all of them listed even by Georgian regions. This website reflects some heavy research work undertaken by certain group of people and there is also an „About us“ section, explaining what they do and how they do it. --H.McC.
