My Plague (New Abuse Mix) edit

The New Abuse Mix of My Plague was first released on the Resident Evil Soundtrack. This is even confirmed in the linear notes of the credits for Antennas to Hell. Please do not keep changing it to direct to the My Plague single page, as it's been officially credited to the Resident Evil Soundtrack. Alinblack (talk) 11:42, 30 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Genre edit

Just like any album, even a compilation album requires a source. We are not allowed to just apply what was used on other wiki pages to place a genre here. Any content which is subjective (which it is here, I promise, people will come and change this no matter what you write), will require a source so you can back up your claim. I don't disagree with you that it belongs to these genres, but I do believe a source is still required. If you can find rules suggesting otherwise, I'd be happy to hear them. Otherwise, you are breaking the rules WP:OR, WP:SUBJECTIVE and WP:RS. 03:55, 5 August 2015 (UTC)

I may have an idea. I think maybe what we should do is make a section saying that it covers many types of metal on songs from their first four studio albums, and provide citations for the genres of each album covered, rather than have the compilation itself cited. It is no different than the albums they had released before, so no reliable sources would say anything about the genre in a review. Heavy metal might work, but published sources try to avoid stating the totally obvious (ex. that the album is heavy metal). They might possibly say that there were songs that classified as a certain type on it, but since this is multiple-album coverage that had two similar sounding albums (Slipknot and Iowa) and two more that were completely different (Vol. 3 and All Hope), they wouldn't call the compilation a certain genre, unless it was simply heavy metal, and again, that's stating the obvious. It's all metal, most of us know what metal it is depending on which album the song is from (ex. Iowa was nu metal, All Hope ventured into thrash, among others, etc.). So maybe we could make a section about its Contents. The sources that justify the albums covered in the article being called a certain genre can be used as in-article citations for infobox genre addition. Hope I got the idea across clearly. I've thought of that before too, but I'm not sure if we'd be breaking rules that they wouldn't be talking about this album specifically. I believe its best to have the genre in the infobox cover the album as a whole rather than two or three songs or just a couple. Personally, I would not worry about the genre too much for this as I think the average audience for this article will be familiar. As you mentioned in edits before, it's pretty obvious what it is, so if it's not super essential, the article isn't too bad for not having it in the infobox. It's complicated, I guess this is why I don't usually work on compilation album articles. ;)Andrzejbanas (talk) 17:20, 5 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
"I believe its best to have the genre in the infobox cover the album as a whole rather than two or three songs or just a couple." There are actually quite a lot of nu metal numbers in here, but for the other albums, I guess I see where you're coming from. I don't think they have to talk about the compilation specifically unless there's actually anything new on it, which in this case, it does not. So if there's nothing new on it, what's the risk of the style being changed from other albums? Nothing. "This album specifically" is just parts of others, so I'm near certain it would work.
