Johnson edit

Andy Johnson is not actually an Andy -- 01:09, 10 June 2008, 67.109.36.158

Both Andrew Johnson(s) are better known as Andy Johnson. (And I think there are usually to uses his nickname to call a male footballer.) See also the page Andrew_Johnson_(disambiguation). --Love Krittaya (talk) 09:09, 6 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Innumerable bogus entries edit

Almost every entry on this list should be removed, because they are almost all actually Andrews, with a few Andreis and Andreases mixed in. Only people actually named Andy should appear on this list. Example: My father's name (really) was Billy, literally, as in on his birth certificate, not William, so if he were notable he'd quality to be listed at Billy. — SMcCandlish [talk] [cont] ‹(-¿-)› 17:26, 25 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia lists people by the name they are best known as. Most people known as Andy are actually Andrew, but if they are most often called Andy, we list them as such. The same applies to someone whose stage name is totally different to their real name; they are listed under the name they are best known as, not their actual, legal name. Soft protected edit request edit

Request this page is renamed Andy (nickname) as I was in the process of creating separate pages for common variations like Andi, and Andie, and and, and was about to change unisex to gender neutral when the page was protected. At the moment it is a common usage page not a given name page which is what I was working on until Drmies got involved, I beat everyone else. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.143.0.217 (talkcontribs) 23:26, 17 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
