US presidential helicopter - so what ?
editAmphibious helicopters have been used in many roles (SAR, ASW, troop transport, VIP transport, astronaut recovery, AEW ...) - some of these roles use the amphibious capability more than others. Why is it relevant to _this_ article that the SH-3 was used as US presidential helicopter (it is covered on articles where it is relevant) ? DexDor (talk) 22:23, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
- I think that the various uses of amphibious helicopters are each worthy of their own section, and presidential choppers are notable enough. Binksternet (talk) 01:19, 16 June 2011 (UTC)
- Was the amphibious capability a factor in choosing that type for Marine One ? Has the capability ever been used by the US presidential fleet ? If the answer to either of these questions is "yes" then that's info that should be included in this page. If the answer to these is "no" (or unknown) then this section should be deleted - anybody interested in the roles the SH-3 has performed can just click on the link. The same applies to SAR, ASW etc. Coaxial rotors (for example) lists examples of helicopters that have that characteristic, but doesn't discuss roles where the characteristic is incidental. DexDor (talk) 06:27, 16 June 2011 (UTC)
- I see your point. I have not found any source describing a water landing with the president aboard, or even describing why amphibious helicopters were selected. Binksternet (talk) 15:50, 16 June 2011 (UTC)
