AL East Champions by year template
editSome sections of this table appear to be inaccurate. For example, in 1998 - 2000, although Boston might have won the division, they did not go on to the World Series, let alone win.
The template's design at present makes it appear that Boston won the World Series those years, when it was the New York Yankees.

Corrected Jays
editChanged Central Canada to Eastern Canada as location of Toronto. Canadian geography is different from American geography and Toronto is considered to be an Eastern city, although that term is rarely used. Canadian regions are usually referred to from east to west as The Maritimes, Quebec, Ontario, The Prairies and BC, with anything north of any of them as Northern Canada.
Added Rays
editI added the Ray's 2008 division championship to the list of division titles won by each team. Qazox (talk) 06:02, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
2005 Division Winner
editIn 2005, it was declared that both teams could claim to be division champions, because no tie-breaker was played. The Yankees were considered the division winner only for playoff seeding purposes. "If I were running the Red Sox," commissioner Bud Selig said last night, standing in the press box at US Cellular Field, "I would declare myself cochamps." Selig's office, through a spokesperson, said the Yankees were declared champions of the East for postseason seeding purposes. Similarly, the Red Sox were declared wild-card winners for seeding purposes.
There is no established rule for whether a team is a cochampion.
"It's just a matter of common sense," Selig said.
So, are the Red Sox cochampions?
"That's an interesting question," Selig said. "Certainly, one could make that case."— Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.164.245.22 (talk) 13:53, 23 September 2013 (UTC) http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1P2-7933473.html — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.164.245.22 (talk) 14:07, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
