Hi, I believe that the title of this article is more representative. I'm yet to see a Telugu person spell the place as Amravathi. Anyways, I'd wait for a week for comments and then carry out the merger with the other page becoming a re-direct. Thanks, --Gurubrahma 18:24, 13 October 2005 (UTC)

It is Amaravathi only based on pronounication in sanskrit or telugu words for the town. Merge with which article? Mlpkr 11:45, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

Confusion between upcoming capital city and existing historical village

There are two facts:

1. A proposed capital city which is planning to construct, the capital of andhrapradesh to be named Amaravathi.
2. There is a village called amaravathi. This is historical place. Vasireddy venkatadri naidu ruled some area from this place and it is his capital. 150B.C to 250B.C satavahanas ruled major portion of present south india from this place. but name of the city is not amaravathi and is dharani kota.

These facts been confused in this article. I propose this should be split into two diff. articles. I don't know much procedures and policies of english wikipedia. Can someone guide me in right direction on splitting the articles.--Pavan santhosh.s (talk) 12:18, 24 March 2015 (UTC)

• Oppose – it seems premature to move an article on a real life city, because a not-yet-built capital is to be given the same name. We should at least give this some time to bed down, before determining which is the primary topic. Also, this should have really been styled as a multi-move request rather than two separate requests, since you propose moving the capital city article to here as well as moving this one. Article duplication (Dec 15 – 2016)

Guys Amaravati -> Amaravathi -> Amaravathi (Historic Town) and Amaravati (State Capital) are all one and the same. These articles should be merged in to one single article. "Amaravati" without "H" is the correct spelling. There are zillion sources which spell it "Amaravati" (Even the state government spells it Amaravati which should treated as statute). I see so many inept and irrelevent discussions on both the article's talk pages where people are trying to push their agenda and point of view and try to confuse the reader due to their prejudices. Both are different, the present page is a village in Amaravati mandala, Amaravati (state capital) is the new capital city of the state. Check the references in the page which are from the state government and census.--Vin09 (talk) 05:10, 18 December 2016 (UTC)

In that case we should include that mandala information in the lead article and not create two different articles. State capital is named after the ancient Satavahana capital city. It really doesn't make sense to create two different articles unless the intention is to misguide the reader. (Nagarjuna198 (talk) 21:06, 22 December 2016 (UTC))

A mandal is different from a town,city and village. Its not misguiding, every settlement should have its own pageif it has official reference. For example, Guntur is a city, Guntur mandal, Guntur district have their own pages, similar way it is the case.--Vin09 (talk) 13:39, 23 December 2016 (UTC)

Orphaned references in Amaravathi (village), Andhra Pradesh

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Amaravathi (village), Andhra Pradesh's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.
