Who was Amanda? and more edit
Who was Amanda Elzy? Was she the youngest sister of singer Ruby Elzy, mentioned in this article? If anyone knows, please add this to the article. Thanks.
I created this stub in response to Carrite's post on Jimbo's talk page, as a contribution to Black History Month. Unfortunately the school doesn't seem to have a website, nor the school district (well, there's a work-in-progress site, with "ipsem lorum" placefiller text, for the district).
I'm sure that those of you on the relevant side of the pond can find resources with which to expand and upgrade this article. And, please, tell us who Amanda was! Thanks. PamD 17:06, 9 February 2015 (UTC)
- Success: "In the late 1940s she was one of the founders of Mississippi Valley State University, the first college for blacks in the Delta. In 1959 Leflore County dedicated Amanda Elzy High School in her honor" from a Googlebooks search for the school name (from a book about Ruby). Got to go out now, no time to work up the article, but I suspect that Amanda Elzy deserves her own article! PamD 18:30, 9 February 2015 (UTC)
- I think you should do that by all means,because frankly, all the biographical content here has nothing to do with the subject of this article, the school. It was named for her. Other than that she had no connection to it. Just out of curiosity, is "educationist" a British English term? In the US we'd say educator. John from Idegon (talk) 05:59, 10 February 2015 (UTC)
