Combat Action Ribbon

Ireland would be entitled to two Combat Action Ribbon awards since the article proves he was wounded in both World War II and Korea nine times. The CAR (2) could or should be mentioned in the article and could or should be listed info box since the CAR is a decoration he is absolutely entitled to. YahwehSaves (talk) 17:57, 4 July 2014 (UTC)

Ireland died before the CAR was made retroactive for WWII and Korea vets. You are not the Navy Awards Branch and do not have the vested authority to make awards. Ireland or his next of kin would have had to apply for his retroactive awarding of the CAR. If there is a reliable source, then use it and re-add the CAR. Consensus prior to your edit was the Ireland did not have the CAR, though he may be entitled if it were sought under the retroactive award guidelines: [1]. EricSerge (talk) 21:00, 4 July 2014 (UTC)

CAR- Public Law 106-55, Oct. 5, 1999, retroactive for "ground combat" from Dec, 7, 1941 (Ireland more than meets the eligibility for the award). Not every award any one has on Wikipedia is sourced or needs to be sourced; has nine purple hearts. Using Wikipedia to keep saying (for bashing me) I'm not the "Navy Awards Branch" (Marine Corps awards CARs to Marines) ... doesn't help Wikipedia. YahwehSaves (talk) 02:28, 5 July 2014 (UTC)

And continually adding unreferenced content, against consensus, is also not helpful to Wikipedia. This behavior led you down the road to a block recently. Please don't get bent out of shape when others disagree with you. Move on to something else, if that is what it takes. Battle stars

Ireland received eight 3/16" service stars (sometimes were called "battle stars") for his Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal (WWII) and Korean Service Medal (Korean War).
So, which is better said in the introduction: "In addition to his Purple Heart Medals, his military awards include two Bronze Star Medals and campaign medals with eight battle stars" or "In addition to his two Purple Heart Medals, his military awards include two Bronze Star Medals and eight "battle stars"" ([article ref 1]) which was Undone in introduction for the former and led to me getting blocked? The reference does not indicate how many stars for each medal, so the first statement probably covers it best. Stars are not stand alone awards, but appurtenances to other awards.

Stars vs Oak Leaves
