Edits by this person are suspect. Enters a lot of unsatisfied links (20 in Contra Costa County, California) bad spelling, bad naming, nonexistent locations, bad link syntax, etc. Unclear if vandalism or simply not capable, See article talk for CoCoCo and this user's history. I cleaned up for CoCoCo but reverted all in Alameda County, California and Mendocino County, California-- Leonard G. 05:34, 24 Oct 2004 (UTC).

Went through Danville, California and Alameda California, fixed up previously reverted stuff with proper links. I am coming to the conclusion that this is not intentional vandalism, just bad work. -- Leonard G. 17:26, 24 Oct 2004 (UTC)

bot trash?

Leonard - that's not "bot trash" - those are links to the equivalent article in other language Wikipediaea. If you know the language well enough to know that the linked article isn't the equivalent article (or can tell by looking at the pictures), clean it up, and notify the bot (operator) - I had that problem for a while with a bot adding a link to the es:Wiki article on Alameda County to the Alameda city article here. Separate articles for townships?

East coast townships have separate articles, as do Ranchos. Do these fit the criteria for notability? Samhuddy (talk) 15:32, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

as far as i can tell, all defined human settlements, past and present, qualify for articles. we just havent written them for the townships yet.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 05:59, 28 March 2011 (UTC)

Ref

I try make in Finnish-Wikipedia a good article about Alameda County, so there can be some reference whom you can use in there English-Wikipedia :) fi:Alamedan piirikunta.-Henswick (talk) 15:26, 12 January 2010 (UTC)

Reference to Contra Costa article

This strikes me as weird:

The historical progression from native American tribal lands to Spanish, then Mexican ranches, thence to farms, ranches, and orchards, suburbs and eventually cities, is shared with the adjacent Contra Costa County (see that article for an extensive history applicable to this county).

It would seem to me that either that material should be re-incorporated into this article, or else if it is also applicable to a third or fourth article, then it should be extracted into some sort of areal article. babbage (talk) 23:56, 2 December 2010 (UTC)

Well, unfortunately, the history of Contra Costa County, at least from Spanish settlement, would need extensive re-writing to be correct for Alameda County. The land grants were to different people; the urbanization started much earlier in Alameda County, even the postwar suburbanization proceeded at different paces. County offices

How about a photo of 1221 Oak St, where the board of supervisors meet, instead of the county courthouse?(mercurywoodrose)Mercurywoodrose (talk) 16:44, 26 September 2011 (UTC)

Alameda County study

In 1965 and 1974, Lisa F. Berkman from Yale University together with S. Leonard Syme conducted a prospective study on social networks and mortality based on a 1965 random sample survey in Alameda County. The study indicated an impact comparable to smoking or obesity. This seminal paper, published in 1979, highly influenced Sheldon Cohen's career who did research on the mechanisms of social ties' effects on health and morbidity. --Kolya (talk) 12:48, 5 November 2018 (UTC)

Map

As requested by Beland, I added a map of incorporated and unincorporated areas. It's very basic, but could easily be modified to adjust colors, add numbers, etc, so let me know if any of this is needed. --Lasunncty (talk) 06:59, 17 July 2021 (UTC)

Seal origin

Perhaps an explanation of the meaning of the open book and sword on the county seal?
