Canada edit

For this section, the source given by the footnote doesn't take me to the a useful, specific page. This page would be better.

Furthermore, air guns are still firearms for criminal code purposes if they meet either the speed or energy requirement, as said by the source above. Gmcbirnie (talk) 05:30, 28 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Brazil edit

The air guns law here in Brazil is very liberal, completely opposed to the firearms laws. In Brazil, is common practice, even at big cities, to give air rifles to children, for them to play. And there is simply no restriction over the ammunition too (at least for small calibers like .177"): it is possible for anyone to buy hundreds of pellets at once. 189.15.227.156 (talk) 16:15, 14 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

It is the same in South Africa - air rifles can be purchased without any kind of license or even identification. Children (especially kids living on farms) are often given air rifles, either just for fun shooting at targets, or else for killing rats and other small pests. New Zealand edit

After two killings with the (30 Joule) 'FX Monsoon', the law looks likely to be changed (http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/crime/3916775/Crackdown-on-killer-air-rifles) Snori (talk) 02:08, 14 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

United States edit

Numerous states and municipalities are listed as having laws related to air gun, but only Michigan has any references. 128.128.252.2 (talk) 02:52, 26 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

UK Law edit

The main article under section "UK Law" mentions that all pistols above 6ft-lb are illegal in the UK even with a FAC. This may need changing as Black Power Pistols are still widely used in the UK, but only on registered firing ranges.

Above 6ft. lbs air pistols are not actually illegal in the UK but are Prohibited Weapons. That is to say they cannot be licensed in the ordinary way but require Home Office approval which unless for use by the trade would not usually be granted. Black powder pistols are indeed still licensable but they are NOT air weapons. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.142.113.80 (talk) 12:21, 20 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

South Africa edit

I see that the article says:

Airguns are defined as of "...calibre less than 5.6 mm (.22 calibre)..." and, "...muzzle energy less than 8 joules (6ft-lbs)..."

But the quoted Act says:

'airgun' means any device manufactured to discharge a bullet or any other projectile- (a) of a calibre of less than 5.6 mm (.22 calibre); or (b) at a muzzle energy of less than 8 joules (6ft-lbs), by means of compressed gas and not by means of burning propellant;

The "or" is important. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 105.184.158.139 (talk) 12:43, 8 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
