Okay, I'm a Wikipedia newbie but a working writer in Finland. Now there's an Agonizer page in Finnish Wikipedia by me. Both articles still need work but hey, it's a start. If someone still has interest in working up the English side, please do. Agonizer made a record deal with Spinefarm. Check their website for news.

You certainly work quickly, John Lake. I wonder if you even read the article, or the guidelines.

Under the music notability guidelines, a 'musician or ensemble... is notable if it meets any one of the [listed] criteria'. This artist qualifies under at least two points:

  • Has been featured in multiple non-trivial published works in reliable and reputable media (excludes things like school newspapers, personal blogs, etc...).
  • Has won or placed in a major music competition.

Furthermore, if you look at my user page, you will also see that I do not live in Finland, am not of Finnish diaspora, nor even speak Finnish. Surely this would make it highly unlikely that this is a vanity article. In truth, I have only even heard one of their songs. However, I believe that this band is an up-and-coming, and both their association with notable bands and own critical acclaim qualifies them for an article in Wikipedia.

I agree with you and have removed the speedy tag. Please be less hostile, Sasuke. I can understand the frustration of having one's article tagged for deletion, but getting mad at the person who nominates the article doesn't help keep the article from being deleted. (Incidentally, if a future article gets tagged for speedy deletion and you don't agree with it, the {{hangon}} on the page below the speedy tag to let admins know that you're arguing against its deletion on the talk page, so it's not superfluous.) I've informed User:John Lake that he should nominate the article for deletion at WP:AFD if he still believes the article warrants deletion; if he does so, again, I would urge you to make sure your arguments there are in regards to the merit of the content of this article, and not about User:John Lake. Hello Sasuke, I can see that you might be upset at the nomination for speedy for an article that you worked on. It did not indicate that it was vanity. It's just that band seems to fail criteria for inclusion. I could not find info on any of the discography. It failed ALLMUSIC [1] and google as Agonizer http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Agonizer&btnG=Google+Search] and Alexa [2] [3]. This is what I based the speedy on. It is also up on speedy on another Wikipedia [4].--John Lake 18:43, 16 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
I am done with this article. I will not be nominating it for Afd. Perhaps someone else might but please don't take it personally.--John Lake 18:47, 16 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
I apologise if I seemed irate, but spending several hours on an article about a band I barely know of, and then having it nominated for speedy deletion within a few minutes, is somewhat vexing. The links at the bottom of the page provide information enough to back up the article (since it is the source of the information itself), and the first two results on Google for 'Agonizer' are band websites, and the sixth is their entry on Last.fm.
