Redirect of article edit

Hi ‎Walter Görlitz. I noted your revert of my revert of your revert on the redirect of that article (sorry, that was a mouthful). I won't revert you on this, but I do think you are being a bit harsh on these editors. The topic is already notable – here are refs on the specific topic from good quality RS (two of which are WP:RS/P). Rolling Stone: The Weeknd and His Mustache Announce New Album, Billboard: The Weeknd Reveals New Album Title in a Very 'Uncut Gems' Fashion, Variety: The Weeknd Drops Teaser for New Album, ‘After Hours’ (Watch), NME: The Weeknd teases new album ‘After Hours’ with trippy trailer. I do think you should give those editors a chance to develop it as they now have a proper stub. All the best. Britishfinance (talk) 22:05, 13 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

LOL. It was a mouthful, but it was accurate. Since we do not have WP:SIGCOV in those RSes, it doesn't meet GNG (but it may soon). The coverage is also quite WP:ROUTINE.
We've had too many articles started with the premise that "the performer is notable, and has previous notable albums, so this one will be notable soon, so let's create the article". The key here is that it is not currently notable and we only create articles for subjects that are notable. Taking such an article to AfD is also a waste because no one will argue against having the article before it's actually released. The solution is to make it clear that we don't create articles for albums that will be notable soon. Walter Görlitz (talk) 01:08, 14 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Title track as single? edit

I'm a bit confused about the status of the title track as a promotional single rather than straight single. Several sources, including Vulture, Variety and XXL have described it as a single, while The Fader specifically describes it as the album's third single (I changed the song page to call it a single, but after seeing the notice on this article in the infobox I realised I had acted too hastily and should have referred to the talk page in the first and self-reverted). I know his site hasn't updated to describe it as a single, but it doesn't specifically say that it isn't a single. mike•owen discuss 20:58, 5 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Semi-protected edit request on 22 March 2020 edit

DELETE "In Your Eyes" in sentence 2 of the article. 'In Your Eyes' was never released as a single for the album 'After Hours' by 'The Weeknd'. AksAds (talk) 06:05, 22 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

@AksAds: What are you talking about? In this source, "In Your Eyes" will be released on March 24 as the album's third single. Pay close attention to the article first. TheAmazingPeanuts (talk) 06:25, 22 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Collapse deluxe tracks edit

Should the template that lists the five deluxe tracks be collapsed by default? I say yes, since that is the standard for other album articles and having the remix tracks without being collapsed may confuse readers as to what actually constitutes the album. Pinging TheAmazingPeanuts and Koavf. Nice4What (talk · contribs) – (Don't forget to share a Thanks ) 21:38, 23 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Nice4What: That's just your opinion, if the album have a dozens of editions being listed it's probably be necessary but the album currently have one. I don't see the reason why hide the deluxe edition, two other editors Ss112 and Koavf would disagree with the collapse. TheAmazingPeanuts (talk) 23:22, 23 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
TheAmazingPeanuts, Nothing should be collapsed by default. There is broad consensus on this already at the {{track listing}} talk page. See also MOS:SCROLL, Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Accessibility#Users_with_limited_CSS_or_JavaScript_support, etc. It is not the default behavior to do this, although I have seen others allege this without any substantiation and in fact, it should not be done at all. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 23:25, 23 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Koavf: I completely agreed with you. If the guidelines says do not hide anything at all, I will follow it. TheAmazingPeanuts (talk) 23:48, 23 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
TheAmazingPeanuts, Yeah, sorry if that came across as combative. I think I got too distracted when I was writing and was terse. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 00:25, 24 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
Nice4What, Understandable if you've seen other albums with their track listings collapsed but in case you didn't see my ping below to a different user, this should not be the case. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 23:26, 23 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Repeat After Me title edit

Shouldn't the word "after" in "Repeat After Me" be in lowercase, considering it is a preposition? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2804:14D:4C89:959F:9805:596:D213:D453 (talk) 13:01, 24 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Genres edit

@Binksternet: Can you help by telling me which sources called the album's genre [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]. TheAmazingPeanuts (talk) 20:18, 24 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Let's see. Pitchfork says it's a "collision of new wave, dream pop, and R&B", while Variety doesn't really say what it is, just that it's not the usual R&B stuff from The Weeknd, and it's not danceable. The Guardian says it's a varied mix, while Consequence of Sound agrees that it's eclectic and difficult to categorize. NME stays away from nailing down the genre, saying that the album is somewhere between his recent arena pop bangers and the old downtempo stuff. So I would not say it was new wave, dream pop and R&B because Pitchfork said it was a "collision" of those, not those exactly, and the others don't support Pitchfork's conclusion. There is no consensus in the sources except for the majority saying it's hard to pin down the genre. Binksternet (talk) 20:50, 24 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Binksternet: Take your word for it. @Nice4What: Can you find a source for the genre of the album? TheAmazingPeanuts (talk) 22:10, 24 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

After Hour Remixes edit

How should we handle and list the remixes present in the deluxe edition of the album and in the new After Hours (Remixes) EP? The remixes are set to be present on the physical edition of the deluxe edition of the album (with the bonus tracks set to not be included according to Universal Music Group) and there is still a version of the deluxe edition with 22 tracks available digitally. Also there is a new "Heartless" remix with Lil Uzi Vert that is non-vaporwave on the remix EP. Should we create four different listings with titles like: Original/physical deluxe, updated/complete deluxe, digital deluxe (without remixes), and After Hours (Remixes) - EP? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated because honestly the deluxe release was handled in a very messy manner. - DovahDuck (talk) 04:31, 3 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

We can also create a section dedicated to the Remix EP at the bottom of the article like they did for the Black Panther soundtrack here. - DovahDuck (talk) 04:36, 3 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
@DovahDuck: I don't think that really necessary, there are other albums that have multiple versions, such as Good Kid, M.A.A.D City, Caracal, In the Lonely Hour, and The Fame. I don't think After Hours is any different to those albums. TheAmazingPeanuts (talk) 05:16, 3 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

"Critical acclaim"? edit

Every album article of Wikipedia bases its critical reception consensus on Metacritic. The platform clearly states "generally favorable reviews" based on 20 reviews. TheAmazingPeanut claims After Hours received "critical acclaim" based on ONE source (Complex). For you to make a statement of that brevity, especially going against what Metacritic states, you need more than 1 source. Otherwise, this is misleading and false information. Completely ignoring Metacritic over one specific website like Complex (not even Billboard or RS or The Guardian) is cherry-picking. BawinV (talk) 05:55, 18 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

@BawinV: You don't need to tell me what I already know, I been editing Wikipedia just as long as you. I agree with you on the bases of Metacritic and leave it as you left it. TheAmazingPeanuts (talk) 07:22, 18 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
That's great. I've removing the Complex source as it is useless space now. BawinV (talk) 07:41, 18 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
@BawinV: Well I already remove the source before you have responded, so don't worry about that. TheAmazingPeanuts (talk) 08:04, 18 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
