Importance edit

I changed the importance on the WP:ECU tag based on the criterion that "principal subnational entities" be rated as "top."--Rockero (talk) 22:42, 15 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Image copyright problem with File:AlbertoSpencer.jpg edit

The image File:AlbertoSpencer.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

Demographics contradiction edit

The statement: "Africans form a majority (70%) in the province of Esmeraldas and the Valle del Chota in the Imbabura Province." is seemingly contradictory to the demographics sections of the Esmeraldas and Imbabura pages. I suspect that this as a case of a poorly worded fact (Perhaps 70% of the Afro-Ecuadoran population resides in those provinces??). I hope someone with expertise will look at this and clear up confusion. Overall, much of the article is informative and interesting though. Bill McKenna (talk) 10:29, 5 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the heads up, Bill McKenna. Given that there are no citations, and that the Spanish language version simply states that the majority of the Afro-Ecuadorian population are to be found in the Esmeraldas Province (that's 43.9% of the population), I've changed it to reflect that interpretation, plus have tagged it for citations. 70% of the ethnic group could be correct, but I'll go through the 2011 census results by Cantón for verification when I have a little time.
