Title edit

According to the official website of the Adventist Church of the Promise, the correct name of the Church in English is: Adventist Church of the Promise. For example:

  • Adventist Church of the Promise
  • Department of Education and Religious Culture of the Adventist Church of the Promise. All rights reserved.

References from reliable, independent sources are needed. Currently, the only references are from the church's own website. The question is, what is the majority English name of the church amongst reliable, independent sources? Currently, there are no such sources to go off. Indeed the link provided includes "Adventist Church of the Promise", but is this the standard usage by the church itself?
Other methods might hint at the name, but these are not Wikipedia policy, just original research: The Google Translation of the Portuguese Igreja Adventista da Promessa is "Adventist Church of Promise". A Google search (at least from here in Australia) presently for "Adventist Church of the Promise" yields only 7 results, versus "Adventist Church of Promise" which yielded 30 results (after an initial estimate of 417). However many of the latter are Wikipedia-influenced anyway. I will email them and ask the church, although again this is "original research". What we really need are reliable independent sources.
A clear statement from the church itself would be enough, regarding its name. For now, I will place a redirect. Colin MacLaurin (talk) 03:51, 19 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
I received an email from the church concurring with 7puritan that the English title is "Adventist Church of the Promise". Note that we cannot change Wikipedia based on a private email, per the policies Wikipedia:No original research and Wikipedia:Verifiability. Given that even on their own website both uses may be found, and the majority of English sources I have seen use the existing title, clearer evidence is needed before any change. I have asked them to put a clear statement like "The official English translation is..." on their website. We'll see what happens from here. Colin MacLaurin (talk) 05:29, 24 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
A representative of the church emailed me on September 4 to say they've added a new page, "Logomarca" (Logo), to their website. That webpage indicates, and a second email also on September 4 confirms, that the official English name is "Adventist Church of Promise", without the article ("the"). The variant may come from the Spanish title. Colin MacLaurin (talk) 01:23, 23 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
