Language edit

This page shouldn't be trying to combine two languages into one article, they should be separated into different pages. --Asklepios 00:25, 30 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

That's only partially true. In general, a Russian equivalent would not be needed when a link is blue (the idea being that the Russian spelling would be given in the lead of the article linked to). However, most of the links in this list are red, so there is no other suitable place to show Russian names (a separate article for them is a bad idea because a page in Russian is unsuitable in this English Wikipedia). What's more, since this is a list (i.e., not an article), having Russian equivalents for each entry (blue or red) is consistent with the spirit of what lists are about. Finally, due to the fact that numerous romanization methods could be used to transliterate any Russian name, restoring original Cyrillic is not always possible by just looking at the romanized name; hence providing Russian names is useful to readers. Hope this helps.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 12:28, 30 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
