Talk:Acura RDX

Latest comment: 5 years ago by Carmaker1 in topic Development

This article is rife with marketing speak, speculation and future events that have not occured yet, and it also sounds like an Acura press release. --Folksong 00:54, 2 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hah, and the thing itself is insanely ugly... Tmcw

RDX Competition edit

Since the RDX is a Mazda CX-7 competitor, could we add the Hyundai Santa Fe as its competition? Santa Fe is $10,000 less than an RDX, and the Santa Fe & CX-7 are the same length. The RDX is also compared to the RAV4, one of the Santa Fe & CX-7's competitors. -- Bull-Doser 01:36, 25 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

There is no field for "competitors." There is a field for "similar" vehicles, which is entirely different. Is that what you're talking about? IFCAR 01:41, 25 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

RDX? edit

I wonder if Honda did any research about the name of this car. It seems a bit ridiculous to give it the same name as a common high explosive. wysiwyg 02:43, 21 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

I guess they figured that "Acura Hexogen" was a bit long ^__^ Maxim K 22:07, 11 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Platform edit

The Acura RDX is not similar to the Honda CR-V. It is similar to the European and Japanese-spec Honda Accord, a.k.a. the Acura TSX. The CR-V is similar to the Civic. 198.228.216.33 (talk) 23:55, 28 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

  • Yes and no. The platform wasn't the same at first, that's true; however, the first generation RDX and second generation CR-V vehicles are roughly the same length, width and height, and as such, are directly comparable. And, according to Car and Driver, the latest versions share the same platform. Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 08:01, 29 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Development edit

Based on my Honda contacts insider information, I found out last year that the 3rd generation RDX model programme began in 2013. The first prototypes were built in 2016, but the final design was settled on in the autumn of 2015, some months after the 2nd generation facelift for the 2016 model year. As much as I would like to note this in the article, this isn't public-access information. Only between us industry members, so I can only note it here until someone publicizes that.--Carmaker1 (talk) 02:48, 11 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
