Heads and houses

edit

Heads - I have reverted headmaster Moffatt's finishing date to unknown as 1973 is too early. I have in my possession a signature of his in a book dated 1976 when still in office. Maybe an enquiry to the school is in order.

Houses - Farington house sticks in my mind. What period were the local River houses?

I have a copy of the 1958 newsletter which has all four river houses mentioned with the end of year report, I will put it up as a link as soon as can convert it to a pdf file. Also found the article that says Mr Moffatt retired in 1973 linked it under references. I would be interested in any old school photos you have if you are an ex-worden pupil

Headmaster Moffatt's 1976 signature

The late Arthur Moffatt, B.Sc

In a lesson in not believing everything one reads, the Leyland Guardian has simply got his retirement date wrong. I am saddened to hear of his recent death. We lived in fear of him (as one did) but he always struck me as a fair man, and good headmaster. I certainly never knew his name was Arthur!

Perhaps the newspaper meant to say 1983 – it’s an easy mistake. Why I know the report is wrong is because he presented me a book prize in 1976 as my headmaster. His signature (to which he always added his post-nominal ‘B.Sc’) is in the book, and the book was first printed in 1976, the year I left Worden. I can scan and upload the image if required. P.S. Working out his date of birth from the newspaper report (this might also be wrong though!) he would have attained his retirement age of 65 in 1977. Oxonhutch 08:50, 18 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Photos WSC, No photos I'm afraid but there are a couple more by Keith Burroughs on the Geograph Project] that could be used in a gallary. I took the liberty of adding one of them. Best regards, Oxonhutch 19:54, 19 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Incorrect dates?

edit

There is a discussion at Wikipedia:Biographies_of_living_persons/Noticeboard#Worden_High_School:_Headteachers regarding whether this article contains incorrect dates. Please check it out.

For now, I've removed the disputed dates, and installed "citation needed" tags for the other dates. Just because something is true doesn't mean that it can be included in Wikipidia. Wikipedia has a policy about verifiability that requires reliable sources to be used for all information in this online encyclopedia. Thanks.Anythingyouwant (talk) 16:49, 15 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
