Pubs edit

Not sure that the London County Council building didn't initially include pubs - what about the Jolly Marshman in Bracondale Road & the whatever-it's-called by the shops on Eynsham Drive (opposite the school)? The Birchwood? The old pub by the shops (pegasus) is now a dentist

The Pegasus used to be situated in Eynsham Drive. However this pub was closed down to make way for a new development which never surfaced. The Pegasus has now been turned in to a NHS Dental Surgery and a very good one at that. There is a huge waiting list to get into this dentist. Nabil Habashi Dental Surgery.

Nabil himself worked originally at the Dental Surgery in Ampleforth Road and ventured on his own taking on the old Pegasus Pub building in the late 1990's to early 2000's

The Pegasus Public house was closed down many years previous.

The Birchwood Public House is in Grovebury Road at the top of Ampleforth Road, and if my memory serves me correctly did originally have a different name The Pied Wagtail.

The Jolly Marshman Public house is still there,

The Abbey Arms is in Abbey Wood Village next to the railway station.

The Harrow Inn Public house is less that 300 yards from the Abbey Arms, situated on the corner of Abbey Road and more or less under the Harrow Manorway Flyover, but sits oposit the Abbey Wood main post office, but has recently closed down. The reason the public house was closed was loss of interest after a family member passed away and not for any other reason.

Hope this helps a little with the public house situation in Abbey Wood its self.

The former Harrow Inn was demolished May/June 2009. Edwin Greenwood (talk) 00:50, 19 June 2009 (UTC) ( Moved existing comment to correct section. As of November 2010 the former Harrow site remains unredeveloped. Edwin Greenwood (talk) 13:54, 6 November 2010 (UTC) )Reply

Private estate edit

Abbey Wood estate its self has now become mainly a private estate due to the majority of people purchasing there properties, and has become a nice area to live. Allot of the residents in this area will not tolerate any missbehaviour or mess. —Preceding unsigned comment added by XxLibbyxx (talkcontribs) 07:38, 13 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Greenwich edit

The article implies that Abbey Wood is in the borough of Greenwich. In fact it is split down the middle between the boroughs of Greenwich and Bexley, with the boundary apparently running down the middle of Wilton Road (the "main street" of the original village). Abbey Road and the eponymous abbey and wood are most decidedly in Bexley. --Edwin Greenwood (talk) 21:15, 18 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

The Abbey Woods are in Bexley, but Bostall Heath and Bostall Woods are in Greenwich. I've rewritten the text of the article to reflect this. - Mark —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.219.236.1 (talk) 12:19, 3 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
