All information regarding the ATNAA is FAIR USE as it was referenced in the REFERENCES section at the bottom of the article. This information is freely available on the internet at NO CHARGE. So reproducing it in WHOLE or in PART does not circumvent any charges that Meridian Medical 'could' charge. Meridian Medical freely offers the handout for download at NO CHARGE, as required by law (mandatory disclosure regarding all pharmaceuticals) by the FDA; therefore it is in the PUBLIC DOMAIN. This is no difference than referencing an MSDS when creating a wikipedia article.

As a precautionary measure since this is my first Wikipedia article, I have sent a request for permission to use the information to Meridian. I am waiting for a response. I don't think this is necessary, but I have gone that extra step.

If there are any formatting errors please email any concerns directly to me at my email address listed under twentiethlevelmage. I will promply edit or correct usually within 24 hours or next business day.

The fact that the information is made available on the Internet, or that no charge is made for access to it, does not mean it is not copyrighted; it does not mean it is in the public domain; and it is not fair use to copy the entire document or large sections of it. Even if it were in the public domain, this would still be plagiarism. However, there are a few sentences in the article that are not copyright infringements, so I have just removed the infringing text, and not deleted the article. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 16:12, 13 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

All the previous information that was posted (that was 'removed') is found on approved FDA labeling for the ATNAA; the owner and submitter of the approval for the device is the Department of the ARMY; and the effects, dosage and administration, precautions, adverse reactions, overdosage, drug abuse and dependance, and treatments for pralidoxime chloride and atropine are approved and presented in FDA drug labeled format. Quotes from Wikipedia: "Works of the United States Government and various other governments are excluded from copyright law and may therefore be considered to be in the public domain in their respective countries.[4]" Also: "Definitions of plagiarism differ. A very basic, plain-spoken definition is: "If you didn't think of it and write it all on your own, and you didn't cite (or write down) the sources where you found the ideas or words, it's probably plagiarism."[3] It doesn't matter where you find the information; even if your source is free content, you should acknowledge it." I intend to repost all the informative information removed, once it is reformatted with citations. I had done this already, but I could not get the hyperlinking with citations to my references at the bottom of article to work. I would prefer to do this with assistance, as this experience does not exactly encourage interest in further contributions to Wikipedia. Twentiethlevelmage (talk) 19:18, 13 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

  • I don't mean to be discouraging; Wikipedia only exists because of the voluntary contributions of interested users! Another user requested the deletion of this article, and I reviewed it. As I said in my comment above, I declined to delete the article, but I did remove text that clearly had been copied-and-pasted from an external source, particularly as it wasn't made clear to the reader what was original work and what was copied. What may not be clear to you as a new user is that we have (literally) hundreds of articles every day recommended for deletion, and a relatively small number of administrators reviewing these requests, so it's not possible to devote huge amounts of time to each article. If the article doesn't clearly require deletion, as this one didn't, my inclination is to do the minimum necessary to address the issue raised in the request and move along to the next one. Sorry if that came off as being abrupt or unwelcoming. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 20:40, 13 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

I have since received a response from the FDA which stated everything I use from their website is NOT copyrighted. How do I include this as evidence when posting citations (even in VER BATIM format)? I would like to properly expand this article to give it the proper coverage it deserves. Do I forward my official email to Wikipedia? How do I upload images? Can you help? I have found some very interesting information regarding composition and dosage of an "ATNAA" device on this page: https://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/fda/fdaDrugXsl.cfm?setid=596c7a8f-27cd-4de2-9491-476f43570b8b Also, I feel the page has been largely overlooked as a reference thus far and contains a LOT of other information that could be very relevant to this article but someone more versed in Wikipedia's standards than me should probably make these changes. Thoughts? MrNick01 (talk) 19:07, 1 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
