Default sort edit
@FeanorStar7 Thanks for your help. [1] How do we correctly mention the default sort if there are 2 people with same name? see A. Nallathambi Venkat TL (talk) 11:25, 21 September 2021 (UTC)
- @User:Venkat TL thanks for your note. According to the WP:Categorization of people page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Categorization_of_people#Ordering_names_in_a_category section 4
"The sort key should mirror the article's title as closely as possible, while omitting disambiguating terms. Some exceptions are made, however, to force correct collation."
So for Nallathambi, the sort tag would be Nallathambi, A. without the qualifier; it will show up in category lists as:
A. Nallathambi (DMK politician)
when two people with the same name and qualifiers are in the list, they will show as the following (as on the disambiguation page you cited):
A. Nallathambi (ADMK politician)
A. Nallathambi (DMK politician)
the key is to make sure that only the name is in the sort tag; no qualifiers; this will force alphabetization of the names (oddly enough by qualifier). I hope this is helpful.--FeanorStar7 (talk) 11:41, 21 September 2021 (UTC)
