How old would he likely have been in 1933 if he was receiving his PhD that year? Skycloud86 (talk) 23:57, 8 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Skycloud86: I wrote this many years ago. Somewhere between 27 and 30 is my best guess. I have some clues which I will sleep on and communicate tomorrow morning. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 03:33, 9 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Skycloud86: Here are the clues. The 1937–1938 yearbook (though that’s not the word I want) of the University of Mysore available on archive.org lists him on the faculty as Dr A. N. Narasimhia MA LT PhD (Lond). The LT (licentiate in teaching) was a one-year course if you already had a bachelors. Assuming he began post KG schooling at age 6, here’s the rough math. 6 + 10 (high school) + 2 (intermediate) + 2 (BA) + 2 (MA) + 1 (LT) + 3–4 (PhD) = 26–27. But in those days children sometimes began school later. Also, he may have taught school for a couple of years with his LT before going abroad for the doctorate. So, all in all, I’d say in his later 20s. It would help if it could be nailed in an obit but I couldn’t find one. Not impossible just needs more sleuthing. Pinging the latter-day Hardy boys, Nancy Drew, Five Find Outers of the Raj @RegentsPark, Abecedare, and Vanamonde93: This is as much sleuthing as I can do from the passenger seat of a car. Just realized there is a BLP banner above. Almost impossible he’d be alive today at 115 and more but … Fowler&fowler«Talk» 18:58, 9 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the information! I'm looking through the list of possibly living people to find anyone I can find proof of death for. Skycloud86 (talk) 17:09, 10 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
