Orphaned references in United States gubernatorial elections, 2018

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of United States gubernatorial elections, 2018's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

New Hampshire

New Hampshire should be under both Unknown incumbent and incumbent retiring/term-limited because current incumbent Maggie Hassan is running for the U. S. Senate.--Bigpoliticsfan (talk) 16:30, 5 October 2015 (UTC)

Oregon, Vermont & New Hampshire

Restored content

I restored the names of numerous potential candidates. We've included them in the past several gubernatorial and senate election articles, and those articles remained at a manageable size. Also note that such inclusion is supported (although not mandated) by WP:Crystalball, which states "Predictions, speculation, forecasts and theories stated by reliable, expert sources or recognized entities in a field may be included" Orser67 (talk) 19:31, 9 March 2017 (UTC)

Change the map to reflect the fact that Gov. Malloy is not running for re-election.

DC Mayoral Election in 2018

I was wondering if we should include the Mayoral election for DC in this, since it is the election to the executive branch over a Federal District. The election would be in 2018. It's a city, though, but it is a Federal District, but it's for a Mayor and not a Governor.

Anyone got thoughts on whether this election should be included on this page?

IMO the DC mayoral election could be a see also link but shouldn't be mentioned here beyond that, it isn't a gubernatorial election. Further, DC city government only exists at the pleasure of Congress. 331dot (talk) 23:48, 30 May 2017 (UTC)

US Virgin Islands Comments

So I added the candidates to the US Virgin Islands section; I have a few comments I want to add as I was researching. Warren Mosler (I) has announced he will run. However, he will not start campaigning until 2018, unlike the other candidates, and I wasn't sure whether he should be included on the list yet or not.

Shading for Indp. Gov. of Alaska - blue, yellow, or other

There has been a debate about which color to shade the Indp. Gov. of Alaska in the political projections sections. I edited the color to change from Blue to Yellow as yellow is the color for independents. He is also a Republican who lost the primary and ran as an Indp. so I think it's very misleading to shade it blue. I believe it should be shaded yellow and if not yellow gray and if not gray red before it's shaded blue. Another user reverted it citing the Lt. Gov was a Dem. In my opinion, the Gov takes precedent over the Lt. Gov. Also, blue is misleading regardless and misleading information should not be included. Since this is an election prediction, the prediction itself must also be taken into account. Unfortunately, details of the Rothenberg prediction are for paid subscribers only. So we cannot tell in more detail what the predictor expects. For example, the gov could choose to run as a Republican in the next election. The Lt.Gov. could not be chosen as his running mate, or the Lt. Gov. could choose not to run.--Ldurkin (talk) 19:18, 8 August 2017 (UTC)

In my opinion, it should definitely be shaded yellow. Walker ran as an independent, has governed as an independent, and has given no indication that he will seek either party's nomination in 2018. Orser67 (talk) 20:06, 8 August 2017 (UTC)

Lists

When I'm on this page and want to look up a particular race, I check the table of contents and click down to what I want. The trouble is, if I don't know what party the incumbent is and whether they're eligible for reelection, I have to look at four separate lists, which is a little too much effort. We don't split the list in the Senate or House elections articles by party. It's alphabetical by state, the way this should be. Leader photos

While governors don't have leaders like senators and representatives do, it's been tradition since 2001 to include the heads of the Republican Governors Association and Democratic Governors Association. • There is no leadership by these governors. These thirty-eight races are unrelated and are therefore leaderless. That's more than fair. My concern is about consistent formatting throughout all gubernatorial election articles. I have no problem going back and retooling all those infoboxes to not have leadership photos, but I want to make sure there's a broad enough consensus before doing that. The article is not consistent

In Election Prediction section, article says Florida is determined and Georgia is TBD. In Race summary section, Florida is awaiting final count and Georgia is determined. 182.172.20.202 (talk) 01:01, 17 November 2018 (UTC)
