Condition in Penner-to-Los Angeles-trade (EDM-LA, Round 3) edit

Can someone provide a reliable source for the (missed) condition in the trade that sent Dustin Penner from Edmonton to Los Angeles in exchange for Colten Teubert, a first-rounder in 2011 and a conditional third-rounder in 2012? According to the official trade call, the condition is that the pick would have upgraded to a second-round choice if Los Angeles had won the Stanley Cup in 2011; however, TSN, ESPN or similar sites and both teams' articles on the matter obscurely write things like "depends on how far Los Angeles advances in the playoffs" or something like that. I believe the Youtube link is not allowed as a reliable source per one of the policies (WP:PRIMARY? Another one? I'm not completely sure which one it was), so any help in sourcing this fact would be appreciated. --Soccer-holicI hear voices in my head... 18:22, 13 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Additional WP:RS needed for San Jose compensation pick (Round 2, #55 overall) edit

It seems as if San Jose will have an compensation pick for not signing their 2007 first-round pick Patrick White. Can anybody provide something official from the league for this? TSN might be a WP:RS, but I tend to not completely trust their available picks chart because there have been some errors on their part in the past... --Soccer-holicI hear voices in my head... 12:49, 27 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, I can't find any official sources either, but Pro Sports Transactions says the same thing about the 55th pick: 2012 Draft. "Sharks awarded 25th pick in second round on 2011-08-16 as compensation for not signing 2007 first round pick Patrick White". Ho-ju-96 (talk) 07:14, 8 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Florida's pick as the last div leader edit

My edit comment is slightly wrong, I'm meant STL instead of LOS. The draft picks in reverse order are 30) champion 29)runner up 27-28) conf final runners-up ?-26)any remaining div leaders that did not advance to the conf finals. That's the unknown. Yeah, florida would pick at 21 if all the div leaders get knocked out this round. TerminalPreppie (talk) 14:34, 3 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

So the order is SJ,CHI,DET,PHI,NAS,PIT,FLA,BOS,STL. TBD: whether WAS goes in front or NYR is on the end. The last 4 spots go to NJ,PHO,LA and the winner of NYR/WAS. FLA is getting 22 or 23. TerminalPreppie (talk) 13:15, 9 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Columbus and Edmonton edit

I have realized that every round except for the 1st round , Columbus is placed at the first pick of the round . Yet it is supposed to be Edmonton . Please re-arrange that please User:guiltpetit89 (talk) 23:30, 8 May 2012 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.210.206.80 (talk)

Actually, you are wrong. The Draft lottery only affects the first round. Rounds 2-7 is strictly on performance, thus Columbus is first in all of those rounds. See, for example, 2007 NHL Entry Draft. Chicago won the lottery and got the first pick in round one, but afterwards reverted to its performance based position, the fifth pick, in rounds 2-7 Ravendrop 04:18, 9 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Official name change edit

Does anyone have sources that the draft, as of this year, is called simply the "NHL Draft" (no entry)? A CBJ beat writer tweeted that a couple days ago but I can't find any other reference to it. TerminalPreppie (talk) 16:06, 14 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

I can't find any official releases about it, but all the articles on NHL.com's Draft page seem to refer to a simply the "2012 NHL Draft" (which to me sounds sillier).Uncleben85 (talk) 18:48, 14 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
The logo of the event has omitted 'Entry' for years now. (look at the previous draft page articles) If you want to propose changing the article title, then it would make sense to propose it going back in time. Otherwise, don't bother. As far as I can tell, there is no confusion about using either name. ʘ alaney2k ʘ (talk) 20:42, 14 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
While I recognize the logo has omitted the word "Draft" for years the official website has now stopped using the word "Entry" while referring to the upcoming draft, only giving it the name "2012 NHL Draft". See this article, or this archive as reference. In comparison, last year the website specifically referred to the draft as the "Entry Draft". Here is last year's draft homepage and here is this article and this archive to reference.Uncleben85 (talk) 00:58, 15 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
Well. The NHL changed their title for the Final to "Stanley Cup Final" from "Stanley Cup Finals" and the project does not want to change those articles titles. But you can go ahead and do a request to move. I would wait though. The NHL publishes a media guide for the fall. I'll email them. ʘ alaney2k ʘ (talk) 04:37, 15 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
One of the editors says that it's not officially changed as it is named Entry Draft in the CBA with the players. Publicity is something else of course, and you can make the case that the 'common name' is NHL Draft. ʘ alaney2k ʘ (talk) 15:32, 15 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
That's kind of what I was thinking: its the "entry draft" in the CBA... TerminalPreppie (talk) 17:07, 15 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
So we shall leave it as "Entry Draft" for the remainder of this CBA, then? Sounds fair to me.Uncleben85 (talk) 21:52, 15 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

It was formally renamed the Draft because there is no longer the Waiver Draft to differentiate between. Page should just say '2012 NHL Draft'.--Arusnak (talk) 19:15, 21 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
