Teams/cyclists list and stages table edit

Normally, these are only done for the Grand Tours. I think doing the teams/cyclists list is a decent idea, but the stages table (what's currently under the heading "Race previews") is really not necessary. It's helpful in the Grand Tour articles, because there are so many stage profiles (what's currently under the "Stages" heading) that they have to be put into separate articles. In a race with 8 or fewer stages, they all go in the article for the race, such as here, making the 'summary' table unnecessary. Is there any defense for its usage? How can the GC after Stage 1 show those time differences if everyone (in the top 10) finished with the same time. Did they have time bonuses on the course? If so can we have a listing of them to help make sense of it? brob (talk) 20:36, 3 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, there are time bonuses both at the finish line and in intermediate sprints. We don't detail them, and rather just say that time bonuses in sprints and the stage placing account for differences on GC that don't match the time on the road (this is for the best - consider this old revision of 2006 Eneco Tour of Benelux (still a sorry excuse for an article), which was for no reason nearly three times larger than it needed to be, and in excess of WP:SIZE recommendations). Perhaps once this event is fully concluded, I'll dive in a little and provide some text in summary for the stages that don't have any. Nosleep ^{break my slumber} 08:26, 7 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
