Title of reference edit
Earlier this month Spacini reverted a change I made to a book title cited in the references, and I am wondering if he or anyone else has an actual copy of the book in question (or a trustworthy database). I don't really have either, and most of the internet sources I found were of low quality and probably copied from one single source. The issue in question is the date range in the subtitle of the book, which is treated in various ways by different sources:
- An Amazon book page uses "1862-1895" in the title field
- The cover image on the same Amazon page shows "August 1862 to July 1965" but does not include an image of the title page
- The Google book page uses "August 11, 1862 to June 3, 1865" but does not include a scan for verification
- The only published source I could find is the bibliography of Bloody Spring which uses "August 11, 1862, to June 3, 1865"
Given the relative credibility of this last source, I opted to follow its formatting. I'm hoping we might find something more substantial—a copy of the title page being the gold standard. Cheers! —jameslucas (" " / +) 19:32, 30 January 2017 (UTC)
