I see - I hadn't noticed you had the exact page there, so after reading that yes, it fits, and I've added further info about the source to the footnote. Oddly, it doesn't say a thing that wasn't already in the article - same NYT reference, and the 2005 AP article said exactly that, that the disaster was an impetus to introducing computerized controls. Yep. The reason why it isn't described in any grater detail on the PDF is because it's mainly a PDF about communications-based train control on the NYC subway, which the derailment just happens to play a part in.

Lede formulation

There is no one generally accepted name for this accident (for one thing, there was another derailment in Union Square back when a heavy rail line ran through it, which few people are aware of), and the clunky name with disambiguator does not lend itself to starting with it in boldface. Also there are several details that usefully belong at the start of the article, including the approximate time. Hence per MOS:BOLDTITLE this article is better without a "Boldface name of article was ..." opening. Yngvadottir (talk) 14:15, 17 July 2014 (UTC)
