Scratchings edit

The official site (https://www.theopen.com/Heritage/PreviousOpens#!/1895/St%20Andrews) has 3 players down as "SCR": Peter Paxton, Douglas Rolland and a W. Marks (of Wimbledon). This is in agreement with old media guide. It is clear from the Glasgow Herald (https://news.google.com/newspapers?id=RVpEAAAAIBAJ&sjid=77EMAAAAIBAJ&pg=1313%2C6743740) that the three did actually scratch, since there was a revised draw taking account of their absence (Paxton and Rolland are also explicitly mentioned in the text). In line with usual practice these 3 should not be treated as "withdrew" but as "did not play" and the size of the field should be 73 and not 76. Nigej (talk) 20:06, 5 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
