History edit

Before Pratt Engineering Company purchased the land, the property was used as farmland.[who?] The Pratt Engineering Company original use was a sugar and fertilizer processing plant.[1] In 1926, the Pullman company purchased the property to repair their railroad sleeper cars. They spent 1 million dollars US$1,000,000 (equivalent to about $22,223,300 in 2023) on renovations.[4]

World War I edit

In World War I the land was used for munitions manufacturing.[1]

Landmark status edit

In 2017 the Atlanta Urban Design Commission nominated the historic site as a landmark site.[5]

Present day edit

In 2017, Atomic Entertainment, a film production company based in Los Angeles, purchased the historic 27 acre property. Before opening the property to the public, Pratt Pullman District was used as the most filmed location in North America, including films like The Hunger Games, Baby Driver, Jumanji and Bad Boys for Life, where they turned the largest building into a 40,000 square foot pool to shoot the boating scenes.

In 2021, Pratt Pullman District welcomed the public originally with a restaurant and exhibits Imagine Picasso and The Van Gogh Experience. Today, all 11 original buildings have been renovated and are functioning as restaurants, bars, event spaces, cultural events, chefs markets, concerts, festivals, Emory Science Gallery, and experiences like Stranger Things, Bridgerton and Jurassic World. There's even roller skating and pickleball.
