List of Are You Afraid of the Dark? episodes

Are You Afraid of the Dark? is a Canadian television series that was on YTV and Nickelodeon. It aired from 1990 to 1996, and for a second run from 1999 to 2000. The series premiered with the episode "The Tale of the Twisted Claw" as a pilot on Halloween 1990 on the Canadian television network YTV and aired until June 11, 2000. The pilot aired on Nickelodeon on October 25, 1991 as part of a Halloween special. The following year, the series premiered on Nickelodeon's SNICK on August 15, 1992, and aired until April 20, 1996.

A revival series was produced by Nickelodeon from 1999 to 2000 and also aired on SNICK. On February 14, 2019, it was announced that the series itself would be revived for a limited miniseries premiering on October 11, 2019.[1][2]

During the course of the series, 94 episodes of Are You Afraid of the Dark? aired over eight seasons.

She tells the boys that this "gift" grants wishes warning them to "be careful what they wish for". The two boys start making wishes with unintended terrifying consequences.

Upon waking up she decides to leave her childhood hobby behind which pleases her now woken up family. Jill then falls asleep again forgetting that sleep is the Sandman's hobby.

Karen is then horrified to find out that the new owners are aliens, and escapes along with her brother despite pleas from the aliens for her to stop before they depart. The episode ends revealing that Karen is in fact an alien too that was accidentally left behind on Earth ten years ago.

Upon looking back at where he dropped the bike, it is now bent and rusted.... David finishes the story by saying that Ricky's remains were found the following day.

Todd becomes the new assistant to an elderly stage magician with the stage name Shandoo. He teaches Todd the rules of magic and reveals that he even has a magic wand. Todd steals the wand in order to help his mother with her job with the intention to return it, but finds out that the wand contains a spirit named Nazrak. Shandoo eventually finds out about the theft and is furious upon hearing that Nazrak appeared, calling it evil. He kicks Todd out, but he returns when Shandoo is in trouble via a mysterious fire. He uses the wand to set things right, but releases Nazrak trapping Shandoo in a vortex. Todd uses what Shandoo taught him and tricks Nazrak into zapping himself back into the vortex to trade places with Shanoo again. The elderly magician gives Todd one more thankful piece of advice before disappearing, revealing that Shandoo was a good spirit.

One night the "school bell" goes off and everyone but Jazz and Augie stream down into the school's basement in a hypnotized trance. The effected children wind up feeding eggs, and the couple who run the school are revealed to be aliens of a near-extinct species. Jazz and Angie wind up killing the aliens and their eggs (except one unknowingly) by blasting loud music from a smuggled in device.

In a modern retelling of Sleepy Hollow, Ian Matthews moves to the legendary town. He soon meets a girl (Katie) who becomes his new girlfriend, but a local bully who also has eyes on her are jealous of the two. He challenges Ian to go-to the bridge of souls of which the headless horseman can never cross and stick a knife in a pumpkin proving he was there. The following night after being chased by the bully in disguise he meets the ghost of Ichabod Crane who has lost his way. After pointing him in the direction away from the bridge, Ian is soon chased by the real headless horseman. Ian manages to make it across the bridge of souls destroying the horseman, and then runs into Crane again who remarks that he meant to go "that way" referring to the bridge.

After Stacey moves into a new apartment with her mom, she befriends an elderly woman living next door by coming by for visits. The old woman tells Stacey to visit her on a special day of importance in particular to which Stacey promises to do so. Stacey winds up reluctantly breaking her promise which hurts and upsets the old woman who later reveals that the day in particular was her death date before she vanishes leaving the apartment vacant. Stacey later asks the apartment manager about the apartment, and he replies that he has been unable to rent it due to haunting rumors. Stacey returns to the apartment pleading for forgiveness which the old woman grants revealing that she has nowhere else to go if the apartment is rented, and is lonely. Stacey and her mom move into the old woman's apartment at a discounted price making the spirit of the elderly woman happy to no longer be alone.

Jake finally decides to go to the phone company with his friend Chris, where Jake is arrested by the phone police. Chris tries getting help from Jake's sister but she knows of no such person as Jake's identity had been mysteriously erased. Chris eventually rescues Jake himself and the two run to Jake's house with the phone police in hot pursuit. The two make it in time and the sister recognizes her brother again. The doorbell rings revealing just a pizza man who was at the wrong house, as the episode ends though he is revealed to be part of the phone police in guise.

Melissa comes to the country to visit her aunt and uncle, and is excited to see her friend Susan. They tell Melissa though that she moved back to the city a few months ago. Melissa decides to explore her friend's now vacant home and discovers a dollhouse in the attic along with a mysterious door. Melissa's aunt stops her from exploring more and brings her home revealing that her friend had in fact disappeared. Melissa later returns to the attic and opens the door revealing the inside of the nearby dollhouse and sees her friend Susan trapped inside calling her name. Before she can go in her uncle stops her by pulling her back in, he opens the door revealing a long drop to the ground below. Melissa returns to the attic a final time and goes through the door to rescue her friend who is slowly turning into a doll. The two escape through the doll house attic via an identical door as the one in her friend's former house. Betty Ann ends the story by saying the dollhouse was then burned.

Twelve year old Ricky is obsessed with TV and video games and is not happy when his mom hired a babysitter named Belinda to look after him one night. Belinda makes a deal with him that if he reads a book for five minutes he can watch TV the rest of the night. Ricky is excited and starts to read but cant do it as he finds the books too boring, opting for video games in his room. Things take an unexpected turn when the characters from one of the books come alive in the real world forcing Ricky to finish his own story about how it ends with Belinda's help. Ricky ends the story happily and the characters vanish leaving Ricky more excited about books than ever before. His mom returns home and is overjoyed with her son, but a bit surprised when Belinda asks for no payment saying that she had "already been paid". Belinda says that she can call her anytime, and when Ricky later tries to find the story he created from the Library he of course cant as its unique only to him.

Alison just moved into a new town and is struggling to make new friends. She stops by Sardo's shop where he sells her a "friendship stone" that unknown to the shop owner grants the wearer the ability to time travel. Alison is soon pursued by a powerful sorcerer named Brother Septimus who is after his stone, but is able to escape to the 1890s through her mirror. In this different time period she makes friends with the former occupant (Tom Btadshaw) of the house she now lives in. She explains how she got there and tells him of Septimus who ends up following them there. The two return to Alison's time period where Sardo appears at Alison's front door trying too late warn her of Septimus. Alison explains about the stone's time travel ability and Sardo in a daze of glamor moves towards a mirror allowing Septimus entry back into her time. Septimus demands the stone back, but Tom has already taken it as a slingshot he uses to shatter the mirror with. The stone disappears, Tom returns to his time period, and Septimus is destroyed as a result.

Sam is described as a mean "rotten" kid who despises his brother Mike. Their mother's birthday is coming up and Mike finds the perfect gift, but Sam winds up stealing the money his brother had saved up. Mike finds out what his brother did, and having no money to buy the gift points to a clown doll in the shop saying that if Sam doesn't stop being nasty the "Crimson Clown" would get him. Sam scoffs at his brother's story despite the clown disappearing from the shop when they leave, and Sam later lies to their mom saying that Mike wasn't looking after him. The night continues with only Sam seeing the clown in his house which his brother dismisses as nonsense saying he made the story up. Sam goes to sleep only to awaken into a nightmare of torment by the Crimson Clown who calls him a bad kid. He eventually breaks down and pleads with the clown to give him another chance repeating his apologies. Sam awakens from his nightmare and is called downstairs by his brother Mike who presents the perfect birthday gift to their tearful happy mom. The Crimson Clown had given Sam his second chance through an alternative set of events.

Reed Hanson is a young guy who appears to fear nothing. He applies for a job at a restaurant where he meets a waitress names Nonnie, and the head chef named Dr. Vink. who makes a hugely popular dish at the restaurant called "The Dangerous Soup". One evening after hours the two hear screaming coming from a waitress trapped in a freezer. Vink is confronted by Reed and Nonnie where he is forced to reveal the secret ingredient of the soup after releasing the dazed waitress. He admits that he uses a creature in an empty freezer to gain the essence of fear from those trapped inside. Vink then uses the essence in the soup as a desired element. Vink invites Reed inside knowing he is afraid of "nothing" while Nonnie watches from outside. When Reed is faced with his true fear and starts screaming, Nonnie opens the door unknowingly letting the creature out. The two are then forced to face their fears in getting the creature back into the freezer again. The two are successful in doing so, but are also trapped inside by Vink who says he intends to be in business for a "very long time".
