Isha Malviya (born 2 November 2003)[2] is an Indian actress and model who works in Hindi television. She is popularly known for playing Jasmine Sandhu in Udaariyaan and participating in Bigg Boss 17.

Early life and education edit

Malviya was born on 2 November 2003 to Mamta and Ashish Malviya. She was brought up in Hoshangabad, Madhya Pradesh.[3]

Malviya pursued her studies at NVM College, Hoshangabad.[4] Post her schooling, Malviya was about to pursue engineering when she was offered the lead role in Udaariyaan.[5]

Dancing, beauty pageants, and music videos (2016–2021) edit

Malviya started her career at the age of 6 as a dancer.[6] She participated in competitions like Patrika Dance ke Superstar while also auditioning for shows like Dance Deewane, Dance India Dance, DID Little Champs, and more.[7] Later, she delved into the world of beauty pageantry by participating in Miss LNCT Open Competition (2018), Miss Teen Icon India Bhopal (2018), among others.

She went on to win the titles of Miss Madhya Pradesh (2017), Shaan of Madhya Pradesh (2018), as well as Miss Teen India Worldwide (2019). Malviya represented India in Miss Teen Worldwide and emerged as the second runner up of the international pageant.[8]

Progressing her modelling career forward, she featured in several Hindi and Punjabi music videos, some of which include Jiske Liye (2020), Tu Mileya (2021), Bomb Bomb (2021), and Ladeya Na Kar (2021).

Udaariyaan, Bigg Boss and rise to prominence (2021–2024) edit

During the lockdown in 2020, Sargun Mehta saw Malviya on Instagram and contacted her for a look test.[9] She was finalized leading to her television debut with Colors TV's drama series Udaariyaan. From 2021 to 2022, she played Jasmine Kaur Sandhu opposite Ankit Gupta.[10] She essayed the role of a girl who dreamt of living her life in Canada.[11] For her portrayal, she won the Indian Telly Award for Rising Star. She also received a nomination for the Best Actress in a Negative Role.

Udaariyaan then took a generation leap and aired a second season of the show. Malviya was asked to return to play Jasmine and was also offered the role of her daughter Harleen Ahluwalia.[12] From 2022 to 2023, she played double roles of the mother and daughter.[13] Shot in Chandigarh, the second season saw her opposite Hitesh Bharadwaj.[14]

From 2023 to 2024, she participated in the popular reality series Bigg Boss 17.[15] She was offered the show in season 16 but was unable to do so because of commitments.[16] Malviya was one of the few contestants who became the captain of the house during her season.[17] She was the youngest contestant and finished at the 7th position.[18]

Next, she starred in the music video for Preet Inder's song Ve Paagla.[19] This was followed by her appearance in Stebin Ben's Main Yaad Aaunga opposite Siddharth Gupta.[20] Filmed in Kasauli, it's a heartbreak anthem.[21] Next, she co-starred with Parth Samthaan in Mohit Chauhan and Shilpa Rao's Jiya Laage Na.[22] For her next project, Malviya shot in 32 degrees at Sambhar Salt Lake in Rajasthan wearing a 25 kilogram lehenga.[23]
