editOn February 19, 2010, Wes Craven was in talks to direct Misha Green’s script Sunflower.[1] But on August 3, 2012, Adam Blaiklock took over directing the movie from Craven, with Ben Stiller’s Red Hour Productions producing the film and 20th Century Fox set to distribute.[2] On January 31, 2023, Green was set to direct as well as produce the movie with Craig Flores for Lionsgate.[3][4]
Casting
editOn January 31, 2023, Jurnee Smollett was cast in the film.[3] On May 15, 2023, Isabel May joined the cast.[5] On December 1, 2023, Scott Speedman joined the cast.[6]
Filming
editOn January 31, 2023, principal photography was set to start in the summer of 2023,[3] and on December 1, 2023, principal photography was set to start in spring 2024 in South Africa.[6]
